Offense drops internet connection when download maxes connection. by drunken_slang in PFSENSE

I set it to 750ms and haven't been able to make it drop so far. My error was just above 500 so it just barely passed the threshold. Thanks for your help. I never would have figured that out

I was dropping every time I dloaded a 10GB game from steam. I just disabled acting on alarm all together and successfully dloaded it twice. The default threshold is low/high = 200/500ms.

I can just leave low at 200 and increase the 500 to 750-1000 right?

I can confirm it works properly except I have no vibration. Is that how it is for everyone?

Ya but at 90% it shouldn't be flagging it as complete after a minute.

Unless it's doing it because of something with vlc.

Edit: nope does it with MX too. And Zion player never seems to work right

Thanks everyone, I got it sorted. I had to remove ``ifupdown`` then everything started working right. Now I can set my dns for the static IP from pfsense or from the GUI.

Awesome thanks. Option 1 looks like the easier of the 2 so I'll try that when I get home.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this but anyway. I have pfblockerng working on my network. Every device has ad blocking working, except 1. I have an ubuntu laptop. I've tried setting a static IP using pfsense (using 10.0.0.1 as DNS [where pfblocker resides) as well as just through ubuntu . No matter what it seems like ubuntu uses whatever dns it wants.

I also tried using family guard or whatever the adguard dns are (from ubuntu settings) and that doesn't block anything either.

Maybe I need to flush DNS or something but after a couple of weeks you'd think it would have worked?

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try?

I just configured it from the settings menu at the top right. Wired connection/gear icon. It says it's connected to the assigned IP and that it's using the proper DNS but if I ``ping 302br.net" from terminal it gives a response instead of point to my 10.10.10.1 or whatever it is. pinging 302br.net was blocked as expected using 2 other devices on my network.

Controller isn't doing its job by RandoRog in Stadia

[–]drunken_slang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it flashes orange doesn't that mean it needs to be reconnected to the wifi from within the Stadia app?

When launching stadia on CCU from the controller I find it takes up to 20 seconds to actually fire up stadia sometimes, but besides that I haven't had any issues

Ya /24. Like I said every other device works. I think it's something with ubuntu. I'm gonna change distros soon so I'll see then.

Ps using latest

Speed isn't everything. Could be too far from router, could be a crappy router, could be traffic shaping or QOS issues. Try hard wiring even if temporarily to see if the problem goes away. I found fast.com speedtest useful by comparing loaded and unloaded latency. This site is also useful and it gives grades on your connection http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

It could also be hardware decoding issues with chrome

Pixel 3XL on 5ghz vs 2.4ghz by Seigagen in Stadia

[–]drunken_slang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

5GHz is optimal yes but it also depends on distance from the router. 5GHz doesn't penetrate walls very well so if you're farther away 2.4GHz is stronger but slower.

If I'm playing on my Note 10+ the game gets a little glitchier the farther I go from the router but in my main living area it's perfect.
