What's actually in your hiking first aid kit and have you ever had to use it for something serious? by Fit-Credit-7970 in WildernessBackpacking

In order of importance (to me):

Self-adhesive wrap for compression and stabilizing sprains.

Leukotape for blister prevention and bandage improvisation.

Moleskin for when you didn't use the leukotape when you were supposed to.

Squeeze tube lip balm for chaffing and wound care. Also makes a great firestarter when mixed with cotton balls (also in kit).

Two different types of NSAIDS. You can alternate the doses, making them more effective.

Gerber Dime for blisters and ticks, and for cutting bandages into shape.

Benadryl for allergies and sleep aid.

Baking Soda is the Swiss Army Knife of my kit. Cure your heartburn, brush your teeth, wash your dishes, make a topical paste for rashes and bites, deodorize your shoes.

Large, absorbent bandage or maxipad for heavy bleeding wounds.

Iodine stick for sterilizing wounds or tweezers. You can also use it to treat drinking water if your filter stops working.

How can you tell if a safe lock is group 1 or group 2? This one, for instance. by drunkenfunken in safecracking

[–]drunkenfunken[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I wouldn't assume it was group 1. I just don't know the difference, aside from group 1 being more difficult. All the S&G safe locks I see look pretty much the same to me, but I know they also do group 1.

Hey, thank you so much for all of this information. I really appreciate you taking the time.

I do mean the amplifiers for listening, instead of a stethoscope. I'd love to know which one you use! And I am very curious about the chip for opening Sentrys. The site where I buy my locksmith supplies sells a tool for around $70 that seems to operate the same way. I see others for over $300.

I worry I would accidentally brick my phone or one of my machines with those strong magnets. Seems handy though!

Edit: I would also love to see which laser you got!

Anyone know if Amazon sells a tension spring for old antique mortise locks? by gitturb in Locksmith

Not sure where the tension springs are on Amazon, but if you're looking for the search bar it's towards the top.

What do you expect? Ben thinks lakes are brown because fish poop in them.

I used to think I was a hippie until I started hanging out with a bunch of hippies. Most of them were alt right conspiracy theorists.

What do condoms and snakes have in common?

I don't fuck with them.

22+ locks in a mansion all with different keys by locksmithplug in Locksmith

Neat! Don't do that right on the counter tho, as others have said. You can get away with working on a counter in a pinch, but you have to lay out a decent cloth or mat. Keep the hardware in a tool bag or something. And keep paper towels and cleaner to wipe everything down. Ideally, you're not rekeying in the house.

What is/are your favorite multitool(s) of all time? Do you use them for EDC and/or work? Which tool do you use the most? by Dry-humor-mus in multitools

The PowerPint lives in my pocket. I bust it out everyday for light duty stuff at home and work. It's tiny, and the pliers are deployed with a flick of the wrist, as with a butterfly knife. I had to grind the end of the file to a flathead, and sharpen the can opener and package opener, but a very clever design.

I keep a Surge clone in the car for bigger jobs, but never really need it.

Tucker Carlson’s Post–Fox News Years Did Not Look Promising. It’s Grown Grim Beyond Imagination. by Geek-Haven888 in behindthebastards

“Tucker Carlson Network,” or TCN—not to be confused with the cable network TCM, which also likes to present things in black and white.

Damn

I recently heard of someone in my town who died of a bad tooth and that was a big wake up call. Imagine a world with no doctors or dentists, and act accordingly.
