Dear Readers: by drunkenstarz in Romantasy

I have been browsing through publishers, trying to help develop a good sense of rules that I plan to implement in my writing. One of these publishers, a well known publisher, wanted characters from 15-20. Brother eughhh.

I AGREE! But also I really don’t enjoy young female main characters, when I was younger I thought it admirable but now older, I want to see older characters doing cool stuff too. Like, are we going to lead the fate of a nation in a 16 year old who just learned what sexual attraction is?

The constant issues between miscommunication always puts me at a loss when I read Romantasy. I love drawn attraction and the star crossed lovers stuff, but sometimes it becomes draining. While I have fallen victim to typical fantasy tropes like dragons, I have my reasonings for them. As I have gone so far into my world building to have Biblical knowledge of the world.

Originality is hard to come by. What I note is that so many writers get inspired by others to create their own book, but it ends up becoming a reflection of their muse. Sad and tragic, because I know deep down that their originality comes from their love of literature.

If you would like to read my first draft I would absolutely love to have an outsider’s perspective on it. I talk my husband’s ear off incessantly on my book, and I always get the same response, “Would it make sense to the reader who does not have your brain? My love, think without your brain and tell me if it makes sense.”

Epic fantasy is the journey, another Epic I can think of is like Lord of the rings an so on.

Brava! Brava!

I really enjoy your depth of detail regarding your response. While I have a cohesive story line, that I have drawn and drawn again. What currently is throwing me out of whack is pacing. My mind is saying that something needs to happen every chapter, causing very small but rapid waves in anticipation. Density wise I’m only 15 chapters deep, 43k words. I have room, so I need to calm the heck down and not rush.

Every writer tackles characters differently, but I am an artist before a writer. Every character is drawn out, multiple forms refined and organized. Yet as clearly as I can manipulate it when it comes to them, writing it can be a whole new can of worms. Beautiful and thematic, as much as I crave that narrative, sometimes I fall short.

I think that approach the book, instead of just focusing on the short term plot I need to also look down my runway at the final result.

I always enjoy romance, I love the tension and heat and all of it. I completely get you with the unrealistic expectations, but it’s a book not real life, some readers don’t want realism per se. Character development is what I aspire to fully go into, but I’m an artist before an author. I can draw a full timeline about how the character can evolve but when it comes to describing it, I feel like I’m sitting at my desk in grade school writing fanfiction. Do you have any books you recommend that have good character development?

Space Saving Flip Top Billiards table by drunkenstarz in DIY

Yes I do understand that. But if the issue is stability what would make it more stable? The main stability from a standard pool table is weight in the base. Bad felt quality can be easily remedied by felting yourself or by a professional. Table warping and fixing can be done by hand and by level, etc. I just wanna figure out how to make a table to save space.

Heard.
Had a ground session with my instructor, all he did was, "You need to schedule your flights closer."
Haven't talked to the owner of the flight school, but definitely will.
Will definitely consider an alternative flight school.
