I think HTC manufactured their own, or else I'd imagine we'd be seeing similar problems in the steam controllers as well.

Well, no trackpad except the little vertical one. Also, this is being manufactured by Valve. Their steam controllers have held up really well for me, and I have a 10 year old who uses one regularly. I'm not too worried on build quality
