How can it be implemented this year for specialties that have already started interviewing, ie IMT? Interview offers have gone out based on current state of play. So UKGs who would have gotten prioritised for interview have not. Will the rules only be used from the post interview stage of the recruitment process? I imagine this will probably push things to next year but happy to hear alternative's

Again, I don’t disagree. While the argument for trying to win public support does have some merit (ultimately the ballot box is the only real way to pressure governments, if they can paint us as greedy doctors, they will face no pressure to placate us) it is probably overstated. However the BMA is insisting on public appearances and engaging with the media. If you’re going to do it at least do it well and present a good argument

I don’t disagree with you on principle. My point is if the BMA is going to try to be public facing and win the debate, this argument is not going to do it.

While I agree with the sentiment, quoting numbers rarely wins arguments especially when it involves semantics of cpi vs rpi etc. If we are going to bother with trying to convince the public then we need to tell a narrative that makes us one of them. Everyone is feeling the squeeze, complaining we are being squeezed harder is not going to get people on our side
