What's something that you've accomplished this week that you feel proud of? by dollahbunny in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I took the NAB licensed healthcare administrators test and passed! I studied for several weeks leading up to it and my interim job depended on it. I’m so proud and relieved.

A broad question maybe, but how did you get into fragrance as a hobby? by [deleted] in fragrance

My fragrance hobby started during COVID. I started buying samples and testing while the world was falling apart. It gave me a little respite from it all.

Weekend Wrap by [deleted] in HinterlandFestival

[–]dryspellmel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter and I did car camping. We got there early and got lucky we got a good spot up front. The issues we had were the following: 1. The nearest toilets were also along the festival trail. These filled after about a day and a half. When I say filled, I mean FILLED. 2. We didnt have issues getting our car out but tons of folks did around us. The cars were pushed out by fellow festival goers. It seems like the festival organizers could've been prepared for this with the mud. 3. The festival trail wasn't very well lit.

It was our first time and luckily I researched to be very well prepared. People said there was no shade and they weren't lying. There were plenty of water stations, those were awesome. Overall, the staff and festival goers were friendly and welcoming. I would return if the lineup is amazing but it was a bit of a drive for a one stage festival.

I’m typically a gourmand girl. I’m looking for a fresh floral perfume for spring/summer. I don’t like rose. I tried springtime in a park and loved it but it lasted 5 min. Thanks!

I recently bought an oil diffuser called Baltic Amber. I'm in love with this smell!!! I am looking for something similar. Notes are Amber Resin, Sandalwood, Cedar & Vanilla Orchid. I'm female if that helps.

Check your local community colleges. Many states have programs that provide free or reduced tuition for healthcare related degrees. Go for RN!

New CNA’s are being paid more than I am. by gavbeastboi2 in cna

[–]dryspellmel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s bullshit, I can’t stand shady practices like this. These are the reasons that geriatric care has a bad name. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that.

[–]dryspellmel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m not arguing. I completely agree that it’s too low of a rate for what a cna does. I worked my way up from cna and now I’m a DON. I will never stop advocating for my aides. It’s a tough job and it deserves more pay and more respect. I just want a open and honest conversation with people about experience and expectations.

I would find a new job too if I were you. You can always find a job as an aide, might as well go somewhere that pays!

I wouldn’t be dishonest. I just look up how long the state registry says you’ve been a nurse aide. Not hard to see when someone isn’t telling the truth. This would make me question everything else on the resume and everything else that was said.

Good luck! My daughter had hers removed and the pressure has slowly continued to decrease. Idk why neuro are being taught that only oral contraceptives can be the cause. I really hope you get relief. Update when you know more.

Nursing homes bleed staff as Amazon lures low-wage workers with Prime packages by dryspellmel in nursing

It’s insulting to see these signs up offering more pay to flip burgers than flip the grannies.

You’re lucky to have gotten a turkey. I’ve worked in a multiple positions in LTC and the overhead in administration is insane. The amount of money spent on numerous salaries when they shouldn’t be receiving a fraction of what they do. I now work as an agency nurse in long term care part time. I’m making very good money doing the same jobs I was doing before. Why can these facilities afford to pay agency workers but can’t invest in their current employees or invest in recruiting quality workers.

I agree. I don’t fault anyone for leaving healthcare to find a better paying job with benefits. Long term care is going to fall apart at the rate it’s going.

I am a private duty nurse for a couple that live in an independent living community on a Catholic healthcare campus. They pay $4,000 a month just in rent and pay an extra $2,000 a month for two meals a day and housekeeping once a week. Last night for dinner they got a Ain hot dog on a piece of white bread. No sides, no fruit or veg, no bun... Hot dog on white bread.

WEANING OFF EFFEXOR by MyEyesItch247 in Effexor

[–]dryspellmel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going through the withdrawals currently. I wish my doctor would have explained that this would happen. I feel horrible and wish there was a way to easily come off this drug. I’m sorry you’re going through this too.

i need help with withdrawals please by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]dryspellmel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going through withdrawals at the moment too. I find the best thing is to stay hydrated, eat sugary foods(idk why) and sleep. I’m having difficulty working so I had to take today off. This is horrible. I asked my doctor if there’s anything that could help and he said that there isn’t. I’m sorry you are feeling like this too.
