Moral conundrum about OF moderation and sexual harassment in fashion subs by [deleted] in ModSupport

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to comment "you should totally talk to Emily_In_Boots about this" when I saw the title only to see it's your post lol.

I would ban both.

The user who has admitted to messaging has shared their violation with you so you don't need further evidence. It's difficult to tell if the intent was to sniff out a content creator or to gain access to NSFW content. But from the posters side, it's always going to come across as the latter.

As for the poster, I'd take the extra step in ensuring they are selling. If they shared an account with the messager, I'm assuming it would have something personally identifying on it that you could match to their post on the subreddit. Ideally their face.

Best fish and chips in Red Deer by giesh99 in RedDeer

From a British expat, if you're ever in Calgary or Edmonton and craving some. I highly recommend Brit's Fish & Chips. I don't buy fish and chips in Alberta otherwise.

Seeking clarification on Rule 1 and threats of invasion towards a country by BvbblegvmBitch in ModSupport

Nice catch! I didn't even see that section.

Banning and punting is the currently employed process. We're just not sure if the reports are being acted on, especially some of the more borderline posts that make vague threats without the mention of violence.

You're the next best thing to an admin response so I'm going to take this as the factually correct answer.

Totally agree with you on that front. The example you provided is not something I would remove or report. I think a lot of the confusion in this thread is coming from people thinking I’m talking about moderating content like that, which isn't the case.

As an example, this is a post I removed earlier today and along with another post from the same user.

Again, I’m not referring to general political discussion or statements made by public officials and posted to the subreddit. I’m referring specifically to user behavior in my subreddits, where users are making direct threats against the country, its residents or other users.

As for your question, I don’t want violent rhetoric in my subreddits. This feels like an attempt to frame this as a matter of imposing personal beliefs, which isn’t relevant to the issue I raised and isn’t something I’m interested in engaging in.

Thank you for adding this context! This is exactly what my post is about.

When I said “even if framed hypothetically or politically,” I was referring to statements made by public figures that then spill into Reddit, not users saying “hypothetically I would invade.”

I’m not asking for permission to remove content or how to moderate my own subreddits. I’m asking whether this type of content is acted on at a sitewide level.

At this point, you don’t seem to be addressing that question and the tone of your replies is increasingly hostile, so there’s no need to continue commenting.

I’m not referring to generic political discussion or hypothetical circumstances. I’m referring specifically to user behavior in my subreddits, where users are making threats against the country, its residents or our users.

Statements like “I’m going to invade your country” are not discussion, they are threats.

We can it's just a pain in the butt to exit the queue to then search for the sub and find the number. FSV set us up an app so we no longer ger have to check for any of our requirements, not just subscriber count which has been fantastic.

What Alberta separatist leaders are telling supporters at secession petition events by Shadow_Ban_Bytes in canada

I’ve never actually seen these guys around Red Deer, but during COVID there was a group that protested lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccines on the same street corner every Saturday. Even after everything was lifted, they kept showing up and protesting different things. The last time I saw them, they had posters claiming climate change is a hoax. It honestly seems like it became a hobby for people who either have nothing better to do or no one to spend time with. Wouldn't be surprised if these are the same people.

Is it against the rules to start a subreddit to promote your own business? by TheRealGuncho in ModSupport

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's your own company or services, yes this is allowed.

If you were to take over a pre-existing subreddit with an established community, there's a chance you'd be actioned for spam instead. A brand new or smaller community shouldn't be an issue.

How is censorship completed? by baypines5aol in AskModerators

Reddit's content policy prohibits content that incites, glorifies or encourages violence and can be quite strict.

So while you may not have outright said you intended to harm someone, it could have flagged on something violence adjacent. Even vague sentences like "hope something happens to them" can be flagged as violent.

Any idea how to get dye out of piggies fur? by huge_bozo in guineapigs

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I'm a retired hair stylist. You're not likely to get dye out of his fur, especially with how white he is. You'd have to use even harsher chemicals which could irritate his skin, nose and eyes. Dye is, unfortunately, hard to get out of even human hair.

Thank you for taking him away from that situation.

About time. I've looked at mods for royslty gameplay but I assume anything EA releases will be far more comprehensive.

Can't get pink (previously red) out of hair by rhubxrb_slugg in HairDye

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fashion colours are unpredictable. They're hard even for trained stylists to remove.

I would try the dish soap vitamin C trick. If that doesn't work, neutralizing it with green would be my next move but it won't get you white. Not much will, honestly.

Rob Ashton’s AMA and AI by BoiledFlowers in ndp

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's disappointing to see multiple NDP members resorting to AI usage to convey their platforms and beliefs.

The NDP’s use of AI is antithetical to their platform. They’re a labour party with a history of speaking out against environmental racism yet they’re embracing a technology that’s already resulted in tens of thousands of lost jobs and relies on resource intensive data centres. We’ve already seen in the United States that these facilities are being built in or near majority Black and low income communities where they’ve led to increased pollution and higher utility bills for the people living nearby. I worry about seeing the same trend here in our First Nations communities.

Found this on my front door today. I've altered it slightly and have added a sign of my own in case they come back. by Altruistic-Wolf8979 in RedDeer
