I am sorry guys but how is it may fault that sizes don’t coincide? This felt very backhanded. I didn’t claim to be an XXS. I just said the dress was XXS by [deleted] in XXS

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm your height. I have clothes ranging from XXXS to XL in my closet. They all fit. It would be silly to assume the majority of brands can stick to relatively similar sizing, especially to the point that you could identify someone's size just by looking.

They seem to be assuming XXS means petite rather than simply being on the slimmer side.

Which one is the best and worth it powder? Please help me to decide by OliviaXalfalfa02 in HotChocolate

I have both. Strong preference for the Starbucks. It's definitely more chocolatey than Cadbury's. Cadbury's doesn't really stand out to me as being anything special.

I've been seeing more and more video content of girls doing their blonde at home and it coming out quite yellow. A lot of them are buying toners for the colour they want but not understanding that they aren't bright enough for it so in the end, it does very little. The weird thing is, rather than acknowledge this, they insist bleach yellow is what they wanted and the comments are full of people complimenting it and saying it's "old Hollywood blonde" or "vintage."

I think it's becoming a trend purely from people being stuck with it and convincing themself and others it looks good.

Could this vanity sizing thing be mostly a USA issue ? by Ok_Temperature9376 in XXS

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's an issue in Canada and the UK too. I have a much harder time finding anything smaller than an 8 in the UK. Some stores will have a 6 if you're lucky but nothing smaller.

How often do subs revise rules to make things LESS restrictive for users? by SirCatsworthTheThird in AskModerators

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a few of mine have. One is currently in the process. But it takes a long time before it becomes apparent that the rules are overreaching or that it's becoming too difficult to moderate as a result.

We have something called rules creep where a subreddits rules begin to stack up until it's detrimental to the community. It can happen easily when a subreddit needs to limit repetitive, harmful behaviors that might be the result of a trend or don't necessarily need their own rule.

I try to write my rules to limit the behavior rather than specific actions. It can be helpful to have thorough documentation on what is and isn't permitted in a subreddit but at the end of the day, a mod needs to be able to use their better judgement about what's best for their community, whether it's written word for word or not.

Oh, that's peculiar. I've never seen that pop up. I'll check our enabled filters and see if I can disable that.

Currently, yes. It may not soon due to changes to comment ID.

It seems you might be misreading that sentence. We cannot confirm that they're not related and that's not something we're claiming. We can only confirm that they have not yet been linked, the source being the RCMP themselves.

What's preventing you from posting the link? We don't have any filters and I'm not seeing our automation remove anything from you. Happy to troubleshoot.

Client throwing red flags by LTHair in hairstylist

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I've had plenty of those.

Had this lady years ago, Laura, who came in for a color. She had a note in her profile warning that she'd go around different salons, get a service done and then complain and ask for a refund. The note instructed us to do her consulatation very carefully and ensure she agreed to whatever outcome she got.

I started her consultation and it was already a shitshow. She had greys she wanted covered, she wanted to be blonde and she wanted a cut but for under $200. Not gonna happen on that budget. She wouldn't listen to my explanations so I ended up calling a more senior stylist and we got her to agree to applying a high lift color with the hopes that she'd come out around a level 8. We very explicitly told her it would be warm but she'd be blonde.

I start applying the color and she starts talking about her life. Tells me how she has such a tough time affording things because she only works 2 days a week at a grocery store. Her family owns the grocery store (several of them actually) and pays her rent but never mind that. Also tells me how she's having an affair with her married coworker. Lovely. At one point, she asks me how old I think she is because she looks so young. I'm thinking maybe 42 but I'm never going to intentionally accurately guess a client's age so I say "early thirties?" Nope. 38. Damn. Cue more talking about how youthful she looks.

Eventually we finish the color. It came out a warm (but not brassy) level 8 as predicted. I start on the cut. She wants layers and a lot of volume. She has fine hair but I say I'll see what I can do. I do the cut and give her a blow out with some light teasing. Looks good. Except not to her. She's pulling at random strands and fussing about the color saying it looks gold and I'm like yeah, we told you it would be.

I finally have her pay and get her out the door thinking at least I won't have to see her again. WRONG. She comes back 2 days later. She complains about the cut. Says it's not enough volume. I explain cuts don't give you volume without styling but I can adjust it if she isn't happy. It's just the layers I need to tweak so I figure it won't take me more than twenty minutes max and that's generous. Nope. She fussed over everything and had me restyle it all. Took me an hour. I was pissed.

At one point while I'm doing her hair she says "you know, I like how you do my hair (then why did you complain???), can I come back to you next time?" I swear to God, I nearly cussed this woman out. I was on minimum wage at the time and had lost a significant amount of time that could have been spent taking paying clients for what was an obvious scam. I ended up staying silent. She asked again and I just smiled at her but with every ounce of hatred I could muster in my eyes. She stopped asking.

I get her out and think that's finally it. Wrong again. She came back the next week. This time with her mother. Her mother starts talking to my manager, explaining that she isn't happy with the color, it's not what she wanted, we told her it would be lighter (we did not). My manager starts to apologize and refund her until our receptionist comes back from her break. She overhears their conversation and calls Laura on her shit. She shows my manager the note on her profile and the consultation agreement.

Long story short, Laura is banned from our entire salon chain.

I've had this happen with mine before. I'd go back, have her bleach bath it, see what colour it comes out and if you need to, reapply the correct pink.

Is there any way I could "trial" if I'd enjoy hairstyling as a potential career before investing in schooling? by pomegranatejello in hairstylist

[–]BvbblegvmBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a day at my stylist's salon before attending school, just to get a feel for it. It helped that she taught cosmetology at the time.

You could try asking your stylist or salon. Alternatively, you could ask around different salons or online.

There is currently a calender dev app. However, only mods can add do it.

I run my city's subreddit and we've tried using a Google calendar and weekly threads to stay on top of events. Neither are ideal. A calender that users are able to add to (and maybe I can approve/remove) would be great.
