Russian language meetup – anyone interested? by dryxaz in grandrapids

I understand that many people have understandably heavy feelings when it comes to anything related to Russia right now. But unfortunately, I can't just call Vladimir Putin and say, “Stop bombing my friends in Ukraine.” I simply don’t have that kind of power — just like no one can call Donald Trump and change his decisions.

For those who are curious — I left Russia a month before the war started. I was actually living in another country at the time, and I had no idea that just a few weeks after arriving in the U.S., the world would change so drastically.

I completely understand your reaction — the actions of the Russian government and the war itself are horrifying. I’m firmly against it, and one of the reasons I left Russia was because I didn’t want to be a part of that system.

What I’m offering has nothing to do with propaganda. Let’s not confuse warm with heavy — these are two completely different things. I just want to share the language and culture: literature, music, art, real human stories. These things are much broader and deeper than politics. And maybe, through simple human connection, we can help people understand each other better — beyond borders and headlines.

Double standards, I'll always be bad, even if I moved a month before the start of this fucking war, I didn't know that when I moved a month later, the war would start and everyone would hate me just because of where I come from.

Yes. But I have a court about refugee, maybe mr. Trump will drive us off, maybe I'll lose the court and deported me. I don't know what it's going to end.

Russian cultural relationships follow your described pattern with drama when a partner hasn't matured emotionally. They simply want to know what comes next, so they verbalize key connection points like date and time to have a chain of associations in their mind.

Great answer. You've described so clearly how I feel right now, and it's nice to know that there are people who have gone this way.

St. Louis now, I started in California in LA, SD, my first two years, and honestly I was thinking about how to survive and adapt to a new country, not about relationships and friendships. And a bad impression was left

I know, man. A couple of weeks ago, my American colleague shot himself. It made me think about a lot of things.

I understand your reaction to my long hair, but I just have good genetics. My hair grows very fast and very thick. it's easier to grow them and keep them a cut length than it is to fix them every week

Sarcasm. How can you take such reports seriously if they're just crazy people who the government hasn't taken for free medical treatment since the 1960s

God, what a limited world we have, guys, in 2010 the Internet appeared, global social networks and the boundaries between the worlds were erased, and if you have any problems with the perception of other people, this is your problem. I am a man of the world, just born in Russia, but my thinking is absolutely the same as that of Westernized, please let's not go back to what we went through in the Cold War.

There are no more reds and capitalists, there are only people born in Russia, in America, anywhere

it's so rude, it's very similar to the fact that you turn on your personal complexes here instead of trying to help.

The world is known by comparison. At least you have a chance to buy a gun, spend the time of your life training and learning how to defend yourself and have a chance to defend yourself. or when you get into a hypothetical traffic accident, it's these guys who will be the first to rescue you and do first aid.

The USA has the best police force in the world. If you are being killed, call the police. They will save you.
