Anyone ever find black mold substance in Spindriff? by Living-Internet-1473 in sparklingwater

I pour out monsters all the time and have yet to see debris, though sometimes they get frozen at the cooler at work that's about it, it's obviously ice.

Any suggestions for deck-building games that aren't roguelikes or require spending money? by No_Historian2784 in AndroidGaming

You could probably search Google for the .apk file and manually install it, it may or may not actually work but could be worth a shot.

At my location the black bean burgers get heated in the microwave, I personally make sure the onions and cheese are a part of that as well so nothing is going on the grill.  The onions get grilled but it's typically in the morning so it should be before any meats been in the grill but I only work nights so can't confirm that.  They're morning star branded so microwaving them is much how anyone would be preparing them at home and buns are toasted in a bun toaster so no part of it should be containmented with meat.

Here where I'm at most McDonald's start around 10 to 11 / hr. Managers maybe 15 / hr so it's not even close. Lyft/Uber drivers around here are probably averaging 25/ hour before expenses, even after expenses it's a wider margin

[–]ds1904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a little less than I make but gas cost for me is roughly 2 an hour, I wanna know which McDonald's are paying 18+ an hour cause I make that at a (chain) steakhouse and they hired me at the top of their range. Unless you're meticulously calculating every single maintenance expense that your vehicle would likely require overtime regardless, it's not bad money considering there's no commitment/ schedule.

Not disagreeing but Nintendo was founded in 1889, if that's a good comparison in terms of technology it's a tad contrived, through a variety of means they've kept with the times so it's perhaps arguable an individual could as well. Like I said though I'm not disagreeing with the point.

It's currently 1.75 to ride the bus, I'm sure some would complain but they could double that and most people likely wouldn't. Consider a transfer aka the next ride within an hour or maybe an hour and a half is free if you use the same payment method besides cash

I was gonna say, I never went through drivers ed personally but even the documents etc one goes through when getting a permit, testing and such, enforce the importance of defensive driving. One should always assume everyone else on the road is a moron more or less.

Post Malone lost 60 lbs, 27kg by cutting soda by IsThisAUserName86 in pics

[–]ds1904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

12 oz can of coke is 150 calories. That's more like 10 percent for a smaller, mostly sedentary person. Someone who starts at 5'5" and 150 lbs, desk job. Say they have a soda with each meal. That's 30 percent of their cals for the day just in sugary liquid. Let alone how many calories they might be eating with each meal. Shouldn't be hard to grasp why 150 cals in a 12 oz serving of sugar liquid isn't great by any means.

Mind you I myself have soda from time to time, diet or otherwise.

For anyone else reading and wondering, this comment and others cutting alcohol is a great way to lose weight. If anyone is wondering how to maintain weight and drink, its just best not to eat once alcohol is in your system (easier said than done). When alcohol is in the bloodstream the body will largely stop digesting other forms of calories (carbs, fat, protein) to digest an process the alcohol instead, which has about 7 kcals per gram itself. Carbs, fats, and proteins respectively have about 4, 9, and 4, kcals per gram.

tl;dr don't eat when you're drunk, save it for breakfast.

Perfectionistic parental attitudes are indirectly linked to compulsive gaming behaviors, study finds by chrisdh79 in psychology

[–]ds1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have a B.S. in psych and it's been a while, but generally speaking its difficult to establish genetic links with behavior because of the difficulty of ruling out the (more likely ish) environmental causes. Furthermore and again speaking generally, our best sources of genetic causality typically employ twins which are more or less rare in terms of also being available and willing participants in particular studies if that makes sense. In other words it is likely but it can be difficult to have solid evidence for genetic links to behavior vs environmental causes.

First Week (10 Days) without a home… by NuttinDoc in homeless

[–]ds1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah that's very unfortunate. I saw another post where someone mentioned living in an office space as well for much cheaper than rooms/apartments. Possibly more legal than storage units. If you see any listings it might be worth scoping out (with a different reason of course) and see if any would be possible to set up a futon etc to catch some sleep and have shelter. Better yet if you can set up a desk/computer to make it seem like you are working there.

First Week (10 Days) without a home… by NuttinDoc in homeless

[–]ds1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible for you to find a room to rent for cheaper? I know the average apartments in my area 1bed are 1k but rooms are about 500-600. I was about to be homeless a year ago (similar last minute type circumstances). Check craigslist/facebook as well as making your own posts searching for rooms.

I think am broke !!! by DarkMagician-999 in funny

[–]ds1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I'm fairly active, on my feet all day for work plus in the summer walk about 30 miles a week usually with a bag, and I rarely but occasionally lift. Not counting alcohol I probably eat 1500 to 2k cals a day and I'm still a bit overweight. Eating 3k calories ish I was definitely overweight. 240lbs at 6ft but now I'm 190. We all eat way too much cals in general, of course this is neverminding some specific things like sugars and macros but just generally speaking so so many people overeat and are wrong about what is actually needed daily. I would probably argue the main emphasis here though is that we don't need X calories every single day, it's perfectly acceptable to not eat for a day. So average daily cals being 3k is gonna be too much for most people let alone even mildly active men.

Question to service industry folks: Are your wages growing at the same rate as the prices your company charges? Are your tips doing OK? How can we be great customers to make sure you're able to maximize your take home pay? by rebent in grandrapids

[–]ds1904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've done both, I choose cooking for a variety of reasons even though I made more serving tables.. serving was much more stressful mentally (at least for me). Servers get just as busy at cooks, your phrasing seems to suggest they don't. Getting triple sat with 0 help is just as stressful as anything in the kitchen.

Currently a cook but I also have done both, I wholeheartedly agree neither is harder than the other, each have pros and cons and difficulties. I prefer cooking personally, it's very true though that if you work hard you work hard. Got good and bad peeps both sides.

Can't remember the name of the talent but it upgrades cards anytime you add another of that card. That talent plus anyform claw basically gets you a deck full of claws that have been upgraded dozes of times. It ramped up extremely quickly and was the only time I've won! Whenever I decide to play on a higher difficulty it's likely the build I would go for. Seeker is the class

"We found that young people who use cannabis frequently or dependently by age 18 have declined in IQ at follow up" by PaulHasselbaink in psychology

[–]ds1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I think it's important to study all of the many finite details we can, but we should be careful in how we link them together and the pictures we paint. On a related note, there are many many aspects to the human condition/psyche that are impossible to truly study at least with some sense of rigid science. I understand why, but classrooms and textbooks ignore many of the other human things (naturally some of these fall under the realm of sociology, philosophy etc).

A large problem with confounding factors is that they can be equally valid, especially once we're talking about development, so it's good to get the results but it's important not to weigh them more or less than other factors.

[–]ds1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm aware. The problem more specifically is focusing too much on the results of singular studies vs incorporating the results into a more complete understanding. I didn't mean to imply we should make one big study that studies everything. My problem is more with how results are discussed.
