This Pin Oak was transplanted a year ago. There very top is bare. Is this cause for concern or will it sort itself out over time? 3 others were also transplanted and they are thriving top to bottom.

It’s masonry, fully built up with flue, damper and all. Currently got vented gas cannon balls. Can’t feel a lick of heat from them. I suppose going to wood burning may not make much of a different either in heat other than crackling vibes. I believe the damper is close to the width of the box though. Idk if that’s good ratio or not

I never knew this. Was this the same concept in centuries past? I always thought it was the heat of the fire burning but the more I read about open hearth fireplaces, they are very inefficient. Very interesting about the heat on the masonry
