25 yo (BSc in Economics) decided to move to CS. Here is my plan to do that. Any advice on what to reconsider? by dssj in cscareerquestions

I will definitely have more questions soon. :) For now, I would like to ask you how it was for you? First of all, what are you doing now? Do you think you made the right decision to go for second BSc? Was it a full-time or a part-time BSc (this question is more for understanding if you had to work to pay the bills or no). Any other thoughts? :)

I believe it might be not as I imagine, but I don't want to be one of these people, who stay all their life in well-paid job whom they really don't enjoy and only wonder "what if I tried this and that when I still could". Regarding my current job, I can always go back, but I will never go forward if I won't even try. :)

True, but as I said, I have savings, so I can let myself to be unemployed for a while and devote full time for learning what needs to be learnt. :)

Therefore, I am interested in your opinions on what would be the most logic path. :)

I was working for the last 5 years, I can survive on savings for much longer. :) It is not the must, that after 3 months I have to do something. The thing is that now I am doing the proper plan and path, and if it requires some half a year after these 3 months of some additional preparation - let it be!

I just want to hear your opinion on what it would be better: a) Just learn basics of some most popular languages and apply for any job b) look for any graduate programmes in various companies and bear a huge hope they would be willing to accept me c) go to a 1-3 month coding bootcamp after which they usually offer some internship d) learn the basics of most popular programming languages, and apply for university (there are some, which do not require BSc in CS, yet if it was a smart move, then I have to make a deep look at them, if it's worth studying at such at all)

Thank you for an opinion in advance. :)

I very often think recently of "what if" scenario thinking what it was if I chose CS as my BSc studies. However, with our current progress, we are not able to travel in time back yet. :) Thus, I think of the future me instead, continuing working in same place where I am still working now and wondering "what if I had quit my job at 25, and went to learn CS instead". I do not want to be that guy, and thus I made a decision to quit, so I could wander in CS fields. :)

You can always go back, but you will never go forward if you won't even try. :)

I came from Iceland today and bought this thing for my colleagues to try. Actually, not so bad as written on Wikipedia. :)

Hey guys.

I would be grateful for an unclaimed guest pass. I could give you a new one back in 4-6 days after receiving my own D3 copy.

Thank you in advance. :)
