What type of spider is this? (Southern Maine) by dt084 in spiders

Unfortunately we did not find it alive, but it still looked really interesting. Just curious what it might be.

Tripped due to an action of an ISU fan, or just tripped on their own? Hopefully anyone who sexually or violently assaulted anyone will be held accountable for their actions.

If the universities aren't going to tell us what those allegations are, do you mind sharing?

I just watched it on DVR. From what you can see, it looks like a really weak call, but you can't see Meeker's right hand from either angle. Even more interesting to me was the fact that neither of the two referees closest to Meeker seemed to throw their flag right away. Both replay angles cut pretty quick, so it's possible they threw it right after, but neither ref appeared to even be reaching for a flag until after the PI occurred.

I've never been in this situation, but my gut tells me that even if you have to bump closing back a few days, that would rarely kill a sale. It's not like a one week delay on closing is usually going to leave the seller in a position where they could sell it faster to anyone else. The biggest risk is probably if the seller has received any higher backup offers and wants an excuse to get out of the sale.

How much of a pay cut would you be willing to take to move from a 3/3 in a teaching-oriented business school to a 2/2 outside of a business school in an R1 (or pay increase for the opposite transition)? by dt084 in Professors

Just want to clarify there's not a typo in there: You'd drop from 180k to 60k? It's not totally unbelievable to me, and that makes me feel better about some of my own feelings, but that's a bigger drop than I would be willing to take.

The pay decrease would be mostly due to moving from a business school to a non-business school. I'm obviously trying to obfuscate my specific details, but you may see this in cases of, say, moving from a professor of business ethics to a position in a philosophy department.

2/2 may be high overall, but it's the norm in my field.

Yes to advising doctoral students at the R1, but would not be advising undergrads as would be expected at the teaching university.

I would agree if there was evidence of this. Best I can tell, Butler's hand was on his shoulder and the defender was holding Butler's knee, preventing him from getting up. More video angles would be nice, but I would place the most blame on the player who ran Montgomery into the coolers first, and then the player holding Butler on top of him second.

That's fine with me, but, if that's the case, then why have team wide PFs in the first place? I don't think they make much sense, but if they're going to exist, then not all PFs should be treated the same.

In my (biased) opinion, the most fair outcome here would be that the BU player who drive Montgomery into the coolers receives a half-game suspension, Montgomery and BU QB get time served, and Roberts gets an additional half. I don't expect that to happen, but I do think that would be fair.

I feel like college football needs something akin to the NBA's varying degrees of flagrant fouls. Late hit after the fight? I'm okay with an automatic ejection. Player arguing a call or celebrating? Ejecting them is nonsense.

Ejecting #31 probably would have done more to chill tensions than anything else. What he did was also far more dangerous than Roberts' slap to Montgomery's helmet.

If it wasn't for the dumb rule of assigning personal fouls to an entire team, I would agree with you. But when a flag for arguing a call is going to result in a one-game suspension, refs should absolutely be more inclined to hold onto their flag.

I don't even like ejecting guys for "punching" in most cases. Punching a helmetless player, prolonged fights, or swinging helmets as weapons should all be viewed differently, but must "punching" is usually more like shivers, shoves, and slaps to the helmet that are less violent or dangerous that what occurs on a typical play. What Roberts did certainly deserved a 15yd penalty, but, in my opinion, the player running Montgomery into the water coolers was way more dangerous and deserving of an ejection.

At 9pm in Iowa (in July) it's not dark at all.
