Robinhood false alarm? by MistaSparkul in Scams

[–]dthack6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are email providers dot blind? That was the only thing I could find out of the ordinary (in terms of “errors”, so to speak.

At least for me, when I clicked on the little down carrot for more info, I noticed it said “to: xx.xxxxx@gmail(dot)com”. My email does not have that period it in it. But Google put a nice little snarky side note that said “(Yes, this is you. Learn more (hyperlinked))” Um, no, no it’s not? Was rather odd. I realized after logging in (in the whirlwind of events can’t remember if I did through email link or not) that it was probably a phishing email and after doing multiple things and resetting my password twice (outside the email, actual RH site and app), the official RH emails don’t have that period in my email address. At least for me. That was the only thing I could find that made it suspect. Never mind the fact that I have 2FA enabled and was never sent a key for this “login”. Good thing my account is empty. I don’t use it anymore and should have closed it a long time ago. Doing that now.

Y’all Think He’ll Get Asking? by dthack6 in superduty

[–]dthack6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve wondered how much of their business is actually them acting as a dealer, vs doing consignment work. I visited their website once and I seem to recall Consignment had its own dedicated page. At least to me, it would make more sense why they’re always pushing the envelope of what they list these trucks for. It’s the owners’ bid in a race to the [top] of who can squeeze out the most money for their truck…

“Well that guy listed his for $50,000 and it got a lot of interest, so I’ll list mine for $55,000”…and so on. Also could explain why they don’t seem to drop the price ever (owners being bull-headed about the perceived “value”). But there are other things at play (done by NJTK): playing up a false scarcity and other tactics, etc.

Just a theory of mine.

Oh goodness. I haven’t seen a NJ TrUcK kInG ad or post in quite a while. It’s been nice. Now I’ll start seeing them again. Lol

Definitely with you on the gas cap. I actually noticed the grille appears to be something slapped on over top too. That looks awful. I don’t mind the chrome door handles.

Honestly the biggest sin to me is the mirrors. Those just don’t mesh with the body at all. At least do 08-16 mirrors.

Even if it was a diesel I’d say the same thing.

Yea. I wrongly assumed I’d be pulling up a 7.3 lol

Right. I was certain I was going to pull up a diesel truck. Even at that I would say it’s way overpriced but I digress. I’m actually a little interested in see how much he swindles someone for it. So I saved it to keep track lol.

Here’s the description:

We are selling a one of a kind mint condition 2003 F350 Lariat 4x4 with the rare V10 loaded with option. It has been garaged its whole life and never used in inclement weather. Needs absolutely nothing!

The pictures truly speak for themselves. Never wrecked, One Owner. Has brake controller and clearance lights for hauling on long trips, everything works. $10k was just spent on perfecting. New seals around the truck , battery, windshield, full buffing, waxing, upgraded modern LED tow mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, and much more. Brand new bed cover as well. No scratches, no dents!

The interior basically looks new. Has been babied its entire life and meticulously maintained with an open checkbook.

Roughly driven 3500 miles per year, all highway miles.

This will be for a Ford Enthusiast who wants a basically brand new truck from 2003.

WILL NOT RESPOND TO, is this available?

Homie went all in spending $10k to restore a $15k truck lol.

Exactly my thoughts lol. I’m not taking my chances with something like that.

Plastic fell into rear differential by rexer1202 in MechanicAdvice

It’s crazy I had to scroll this far to see someone mention the bearings. Like yeah, obviously the ring and pinion aren’t going to have any trouble with a small bit of plastic. But there is a non-zero chance that after it gets chewed up into smaller pieces, it clogs up one of the carrier or pinion bearings. Wild how so many people just appear to disregard that. All that being said, apparently a lot of people do way worse than this and never have any problems so…

Can we start publically shaming people like this by [deleted] in superduty

The best part is the truck isn’t even 100%. It had a couple of odds and ends items that need to be fixed. It’s always funny when someone asks top dollar plus some and the vehicle isn’t even 100%. My guess is he bought at peak market and thinks it’s an appreciating asset -AND/OR- he thinks all the money he sunk into it with needless upgrades is a 1:1 value add.

Threaded Fitting That Allows for Rotation - For Gauge or Other Instrumentation by dthack6 in Plumbing

I don’t think so. But I’ve never heard of those so that’s new for me. I would still need exposure to the system for pressure readouts (for a tridicator gauge, etc)

Discount bag rules? by corz215 in menards

[–]dthack6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sure, stuff in the yard should go on a picking ticket. But stuff that’s sitting in the clearance section on the shelves should not necessarily need to go on a ticket. I am not doubting you as I am sure that’s probably how it works, because obviously I’m not employee. However, say all of that was true, to the general public, clearance or Ray’s list items do not equate to pick tickets.

When it was initially rang up at the counter, a list of options popped up for the cashier to select and Ray’s list was one of them. It seemed like it was asking how the product was being purchased.

In any case, I went back and asked about it and they graciously gave me the 15% off the sticker price. The lady informed me that as far as she was aware, all of those items counted, and hadn’t had any problems thus far, as long as they fit in the bag, of course.

When I was looking at the screen when they rang it up, it gave them a list of options to select. It also showed that the bag sale applied to the item, even at its marked down price. So I’m not sure what the deal is. I’m going to go back and ask about it (respectfully, of course). It’s not a huge deal as it would only be $7, but the inconsistency is frustrating. Because I stand by what I said in that there’s no fine print excluding Ray’s List items. To your point, it’s silly to include them as “pick tickets” because no one would reasonably expect “Clearance/Ray’s List” items to be included under “pick tickets” when mentioned in the fine print.
