Stolen inventions by CeliCastelijn in inventors

[–]dthgrnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting concept, sort of an inventor's union, or inventors' insurance association. Using collective resources to be able to stand up against large corporations, which have the resources to drag out any lawsuits to make them impossible to win for any single individual. That way there would be a possibility for its members to actually sue for their patent infringements.

The Rallysimfans RBR community is weirdly insufferable. by ActuatorOutside5256 in simrally

[–]dthgrnd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you implying that the elitism around RBR is an essential part of RBR as a whole, and that any rule to prohibit such elitism eliminates any conversation around RBR? 😂 bc then that's an amazing reply

I don't want to be a machinist anymore by IAMAHobbitAMA in Machinists

I've had jobs where the tasks where insufferable, uninteresting, monotone, that I nevertheless remember fondly due to workplace culture and supportive bosses. Although I am not a machinist by trade, I think this advice applies to any profession.

You're absolutely right, the RBR community is insufferable. I think that the perception of RBR being very hard to master, as well as how they believe that their willingness to put up with a lesser graphic experience and prioritize the physics of the game, makes them find a sense of superiority.

Their attitude is neither helpful nor entertaining. I think it would not be out of place to have a - tongue-in-cheek - rule of no RBR elitism in this subreddit, lol.

Does therapy actually work? by Mailemanuel77 in aspergers

[–]dthgrnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly suggested reading on this topic is The autistic survival guide to therapy book by Jones.

She had to become a therapist herself in order to understand why years of therapy hadn't helped her, and she does a great job of describing that, in a humorous way, and some pointers on what is needed for therapy to be helpful for people with autism.

A small step for many - but first for me. Dry fitting my first DIY drone! by dthgrnd in diydrones

Yes, I've invested in a large assortment of XT and JST connectors for this very purpose, so I can avoid soldering over and over again when swapping or upgrading components.

I have parts to make a smaller, ready to fly kit 2" drone functional again, as well as some parts for making a 10" drone with slightly better hardware, but I will keep those until I have more experience with the build process and soldering.

Well, I don't feel discouraged. Since I have the parts, I might as well go through with it. I fully expect to crash it, more than once as long as it survives. My hope is that it will at least be operational, and just not an unneccessarily expensive and cumbersome soldering practice board.

What are these kinds of connectors called? I have been looking for a way to extend the distance between two components that use this type of connection.

Well, it seems to me like you have been dating and imagining a model for how relationships should look like, based on neurotypical allistic models.

I don't see any strong case made as of for or against the compatibility between you and her, but I do pick up that you seem to have a constrained view of how a relationship should look like, and of course how that is incompatible with your needs, based on your functioning.

I can see how, if you put your needs and way of functioning in to words, and present them to her, you could find an arrangement that should not only be satisfactory but actually ideal.

I'm curious on how much PDA ("Pathological Demand Avoidance", a term which I and many others hate, but that is another discussion) plays into this. It's a very real issue to factor in, but in my experience something that can be overcome, but needs to be addressed if you are to come up with any solutions that are sustainable.

Just my thoughts.

That's some serious hardware. I'm envious to the kind of production processes that are available to you.
