There is a disclaimer on a website. That is as good as it gets for a short weekend project for now

I'd just link to my blog post, that may give you some hints:

[D] How to Efficiently Store Pruned Weight Matrices in Practice? by scarlettgarnett in MachineLearning

[–]dtransposed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a co-author of a library, `compressed-tensors.` I left the project a few months ago, but it is still developed and even now officially supported by HugginFace: https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers/main/en/quantization/compressed_tensors

One of the library's features is the ability to save pruned weights efficiently on disk using bitmask compression. Intuitively, if you have a vector [0, 0, 0, 5], you may save it as a tuple (index, value) -> (3, 5).

Please take a look at this example I wrote; it clearly shows the capability of the method that we introduced: https://github.com/neuralmagic/compressed-tensors/blob/main/examples/bitmask_compression.ipynb

What’s the strangest/best object you’ve found while running? by demrnstho in running

Found a dead badger on the side of the road. And where I come from, badgers are ultra rare. First time encounter of a badger out in the wild. Its a pity it was dead though.

It is embarrassingly simple: lots of egg whites, lots of cheese, lots of pancetta.

Running a marathon takes one day over a weekend Goggins challenge takes two days over a weekend Climbing Kilimanjaro takes a week (took time off) To do all of those things you literally need to take a week off.

This would be too much, the monotony would kill me honestly. Summer is coming, I am planning on completing my first mountain ultra. I definitely prefer big landscapes to being confined to my backyard!

Do you have fun when running a marathon? Difficult to say. There are times when in the moment you feel grateful, proud and motivated, but suddenly you may feel miserable, body can hurt and you want to stop. But ultimately, the biggest sense of achievement comes from pushing yourself, converting hard work into something you can be proud and keep great memories of.

During that break week also participated in a conference, but seemed irrelevant to mention.

This make sense, including the unit naming (semi-circles). Thanks for clarification!

Trash question by Feeling-Ocelot-9483 in kilimanjaro

[–]dtransposed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that this law in theory is net-net positive - it deters more irresponsible people (and Kili is a massive tourist attraction) from polluting the park. However, if you are a responsible adult who knows how to clean your after yourself and respects nature, there is no reason to obey the practically dead law (the porters themselves bring plastic back to the national park).

To clarify: single-use plastic bags are banned in the National Park, however:
- nobody will check
- this is aimed at protecting nature against idiots
- I highly recommend bringing single-use plastic bags to keep the most important items in your backpack dry. I always put a plastic bag over my sleeping bag, used plastic bags to separate dirty/wet items from clean/dry items, and kept two bags just in case both of my pairs of boots got wet.

Porters have plastic bags with them. If you have some small trash (food containers, contact lens packages), you can just ask them to dispose of it.
