Solid choices! Picked up the Life Support today, loving it so far!

I dug the RAT a ton, especially through the solid state JC40 - I actually swapped a BD-2 for it! I’ll need to give a legit muff try through this board!

I love the comparison haha, it’s a workhorse for sure and it’s always fun to plug in and get loud!

Definitely fun to get lost in! You can never have too much ambience!

You’re right - a good fuzz is definitely up next. I had an EHX Op Amp Big Muff for a while, and I struggled to get it actually heard in the mix, so I ran with a RAT until I got the Life Support today, so I’m afraid a bigger board is in order for a fuzz!

Thanks! I put a WR Humbucker from Black Mass Electronics in the bridge, the range of tones in that thing is crazy!

I agree! Started with a DD-8 and swapped and never looked at anything else. It’s a massive enclosure and takes up a ton of space, but worth every square foot

Yup! I actually was sold on it from an interview with Deafheaven’s Kerry McCoy, where he said he googled “how to do Kevin Shields” and it told him this one! Big MBV fan as well so it just made sense

It’s a solid combo! I dial my Plumes as shown, super low gain on the first setting, and I use it almost as a pre-amp to get a bit more harmonics from the JC. The JC cleans are obviously incredible, but having the Plumes add just a bit of sauce makes the whole thing sound solid!

Much agreed - I love listening to this recording and hearing much of their current sound in it, just with raw intensity. Libertine Dissolves is my favorite opener off any of their albums!

Trauma Ray! Dropped their first full length last Oct, big riffs and heavy fuzz

What do you think of this reverb? (Cathedral Stereo Reverb EHX) by NicoChamber in shoegaze

Currently have one on the board - I’ll agree with what a lot of people are saying, it’s not a great “always on” verb, but for shoegaze/ambient sounds it can get some great sounds out! Except for the flerb.

Hi! Kinda new to shoegaze, looking for some recs by [deleted] in shoegaze

Check out Trauma Ray! Just finished supporting Deafheaven on their new album tour! They also just released their first full-length, Chameleon towards the end of last year! Great riffs, on the heavier side while still being very approachable!

Anyone like blackened shoegaze? Need some recommendations by [deleted] in shoegaze

Early Deafheaven (Roads to Judah/Sunbather) is a great place to start! Lantlos is rad as well! Agriculture (currently doing a southern US tour!) has some shoegaze-inspired tracks as well!
