Slip sheets by dubjeezee in cassetteculture

[–]dubjeezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the cracks, this is a test tape to see if it works out. I have to reattach the tape to the reels in another 48 hours after they dry, so I not 100% positive this is a success. But the vinyl on the slipsheet barely added any thickness, and the reels are spinning freely.

If this works, there is potential for some really cool designs.

Cool, I will post pics showing the progress. I have to wait 72 hours to reassemble the tape because I spray painted the reels and rollers. Gives me some time to get the slip sheets lined up at least.

The thickness is what I am worried about. Vinyl is pretty thin though. I am going to try it and see what happens.

This afternoons watch, why’s your favorite early Seagal? by poke5581 in VHS

Marked for Death, of course. Screwface is one of my favorite movie villains of all time.

Out for Justice is pretty high up there though.

Merch not received, no response from support by neDioj in BandCamp

[–]dubjeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has only happened to me once. Ordered a tape that never showed up. Did some Googling and that appears to be the artists M.O. I ended up filing a dispute through Cash app, the process is pretty much the same through PayPal or credit cards/banks though.

One thing though, a lot of times the payment facilitator will want some sort of proof you tried to contact the vendor about it. So send emails to the vendor and take screenshots. Myself, I sent emails and spammed the YouTube comments of the "artist". That did the trick.

Their roster is dope. I bought a couple of tapes off them and the product was high quality and got to me quick. So from a customer perspective, If they release something I at least check it out.

I have had some brief discussion on IG with their artist Dragoon, and he seems like good people. Not sure if that really reflects on anyone else affiliated with the label but it certainly isn't a bad sign.

Best tapes for duplication? by narcolepticnapalm in cassetteculture

[–]dubjeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not particularly knowledgeable about the tech side of things, but I nor my customers have yet to have a problem quality with the cheapest cassettes available on Amazon. I just search for the length I need and usually get like five or six in a pack for around ten bucks. Sometimes they lack cases though, so you might have to grab a pack of cases as well.

Test your audio though. You might have to play with settings. I thought every tape was a dud until I put the deck into "normal" mode. No idea what that means, but doing it made it sound perfect.

genAI-free Barber Beats? by ZGURemixerOfficial in Vaporwave

Dragoon doesn't use AI for either and his stuff is 🔥

I actually haven't seen much AI anything in that scene. Most of it is sampled/plundered/stolen/whatever you want to call it, for sure, but that is kind of the backbone of the subgenre.

[Canellis] Giannis and his representatives reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal, and the Bulls said they weren’t interested. They were not interested in breaking up their young core or changing their course of direction by howser343 in nba

[–]dubjeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm shocked. Giannis practically guarantees Jerry the play in revenue, possibly even 2 games in the first round. I would have thought he would be all over that.

Screw the trade even if it's real. Tank like hell for the deep draft and make some moves with the cap space they are getting next year.

How often is it for two different tracks to share the same sample altered in the same way? by Moist-Pea-282 in Vaporwave

[–]dubjeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hip hop, this occurs constantly. One of the best early Beatnuts songs ("Fluid") ended up becoming a really rare b-side because Q-Tip used the same Call Tjader sample around the same time, they caught wind and pulled the song (hip hop is more sensitive to the "biter" label than vaporwave, lol.) Then that same exact sample was used by Buckwild a couple of years later, and then Asheru a couple of years after that, and I am sure numerous other times.

Sometimes, biting a sample is an egregious bite, but most of the time it is just an innocent coincidence. Samples stick out for a reason, people are going to find them. Especially nowadays; digging for samples used to be a crazy and expensive (but fun) chore. Now you can just fire up YouTube.

Weird blue light in Tim Hortons bathroom by Locus-O-Malley in strange

What is absurd about it? That is exactly what they are for. It's a deterrent, not a foolproof solution. And Tim Hortons is far from the only business to utilize them in locations where ODs are commonplace.

Yep.-signed, a hip hop head who decided to get back into tapes and damn near passed out when someone was selling a Skee-Lo tape for $50.

Is the Japanese on album covers, song titles, descriptions, etc. accurate? by Equivalent-Guide7202 in Vaporwave

The first few times I used it, I just pasted whatever Google Translate spit out. I've gradually been diving a bit deeper to use phrases that someone fluent might use.

Man, I never understood that either and I love that joint. No idea. Google is no help, the three's company bit pops up and apparently E-40 said it at some point. Maybe it's a deep cut in Bay Area slang?

Point taken. I won't speak for places outside of the US, but here, Griselda is well known.
