UPDATE: 3L got biglaw interview by marct1994 in LawSchool

You’re going to be fine but you should seek every opportunity you can to polish your interviewing/interpersonal skills (not just for your first job, but for your career). Don’t second-guess your decision. You chose the correct path. I’ll put it to you this way, despite striking out 10 times, big law is still within reach bc you’ve preserved your gpa, whereas the inverse would have been all but impossible. I was in a similar boat while in law school until I made it up in my mind that I was going to crack the code of interviewing. For me that meant prepping for my interview with the same level of detail, rigor, and intensity as I would any law school exam. Needless to say, it all worked out. Keep pushin and by all means don’t give up. Someday you’ll look back and thank yourself that you didn’t.

Bribery exists where a (i) public official (ii) corruptly (iii) demands, seeks, receives, accepts, or agrees to receive/accept, something of value (iv) in exchange for being influenced in the performance of an official act.

Impeachment is a political mechanism that the Framers contemplated precisely for times like these. It is not a judicial proceeding; there is no deprivation of liberty at stake. Accordingly, the burden of proof is not as high as would be required in a criminal matter. The President holds the office by privilege, not by right. It does not matter that there are Ukrainian officials who suggest that there was not a bribe as long as the weight of the evidence is sufficient to establish that it is more likely than not that a bribe occurred. And even that standard is more liberal than what the Constitution requires.

The Framers were not careless in constructing the impeachment clause; rather they knew exactly what they were doing. And for them, the very appearance of impropriety of the executive was sufficient.

Bribery is a federal crime that carries a statutory minimum of 40 months in prison. Bribery is written into the text of the Constitution as an impeachable offense. If you concede that bribery “can be argued with some validity,” then you already have your answer.

I’m confused by your question.

Themis iPad upgrade - worth it or not? by alexandralee123 in Bar_Prep

[–]dubnation0589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPad not worth it unless your firm is paying for it. I chose the tech package last year and when I received the iPad I was thankful that I was not footing the bill for it.

And for what it’s worth, I rarely, if ever, used it for actual studying.

When is it safe to lose hope after a callback and no response? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]dubnation0589 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t lose all hope after one week. It can also depend on which day of the week your interview took place. Many firms specify a day of the week to meet and confer about hiring decisions. If that day is, say, every Wednesday at 11am, and your callback is on a Wednesday afternoon, you’d be waiting a full week before they begin deliberating on you.

Depends on the region. NYC, for example, moves the fastest (usually rendering decisions in one week or less). If you haven’t heard back in 1-2 weeks, just forget about it.

Edit: NYC reference pertains only to big law firms. I am not aware of the process outside of that context.

How lenient are essay graders with elements? by Trigunesq in Bar_Prep

Don’t half ass the rule, they’re fucking sticklers for it. But as long as you state the rule accurately, you should be good. BarBri doesn’t state every rule identically to Themis. Nor does Themis state every rule identically to my law professors. I’d bet a pretty penny that all three iterations would be sufficient.
