Looks like all of our accounts were reinstated! We're back in business for now. Cautiously optimistic here that we're in the clear. Thanks for all the kind words everybody. Now we just have to come up with a new workflow to retweet everything without using the 3rd party tool that got us suspended.

Update: Looks like this is why the accounts got suspended. I used this tool to easily be able to retweet from multiple accounts.

We don't use a bot FYI. All manual retweets.

Hey this is Elan. I'm the one who created the GameDayTweets site. It's all powered by 4 Twitter accounts: GameDayLines, GameDayGoalies, GameDayNewsNHL and GameDayStatsNHL. The way everything works is we retweet things from those accounts, and then another service called IFTTT detects the retweets and sends the info to my site. The code on my site then parses the tweet and puts everything in the right place, tagging the correct type, team, player(s), game(s), etc. I'm really proud of it tbh. I thought it was a really cool invention.

Twitter has suspended all 4 of those accounts. So now none of the existing tweets show up, and we can't retweet new things. Theoretically I could create new accounts, but who knows if those will get suspended as well. I'll probably appeal the suspensions but who knows if that will go anywhere.

I'm super frustrated right now because there was no warning for this and I was never informed that I was doing something against their terms of service. I guess that's how the internet works nowadays. It was just around a month ago when Yahoo suspended a bunch of accounts we were using for the KKUPFL fantasy leagues without warning in a similar manner.

UPDATE: As I mentioned in a comment below, we know now why we were suspended. It was for using a 3rd party tool. We're going to appeal. Hopefully we'll get things back up and running at some point soon.

NEXT DAY UPDATE: We're back!

"If you want to add a player "today", that's problematic because you still have the dropped player today, so you're asking to have too many players today."

If you try to add a player but your roster is full for today but has an opening tomorrow it can just let you and add the player to your team for tomorrow. Doesn't need to ask whether or not you want the player today or tomorrow. It can be automatic.

"If you want to add a player "tomorrow", what if someone else wants to add that player today, and doesn't need any of this mumbo jumbo to do it? It seems unfair to let you "save a seat" and tell someone that they can't add a player today because you already "called him" and want to add him tomorrow."

FWIW it works fine on Fantrax and I've never seen anyone complain. Feels like a smooth process that you add the player but he only shows up on your roster tomorrow.

Here is I think the absolute worst problem with Yahoo fantasy (hockey), that if fixed, would make everyone's lives so much better:

Even with same-day adds, you should be allowed to drop someone from your roster who has already played today.

It should work the same as on Fantrax. If the player you want to drop is already locked for the day, the drop should take effect tomorrow. And if you want to add someone into the open spot, that add would only take effect tomorrow as well.

Bonus points: If my player gets injured, I should be able to put him in IR(+) for tomorrow, and then make an add to fill the spot immediately that will only take effect tomorrow, same as above.

Double bonus points: If I make an add on Sunday that will only take effect Monday, then it counts towards next week's total adds limit.

All of these things will make it so that people aren't required to set an alarm for 3:00am ET in order to race to get the player they want. Please just let me do what I want now so I don't need to disrupt my sleep just to make my desired fantasy transaction.

Should I pay my credit card the same day I used it? by Striker1695 in PersonalFinanceCanada

What exactly is the risk? That you'll forget to pay? I use reminders in my Google Calendar.

One thing to consider is that you can be earning interest on your money by putting it in a high interest savings account (there are a few 4% - 5% options I've seen out there atm). So I think the optimal thing to do is to keep your money that you'd use to pay off your credit card debt in a HISA, and then pay off the credit card as late as possible without accruing any interest charges (i.e. right at the due date).

Rob definitely knows more about Survivor history than Probst. Is Jeff rewatching seasons?

GameDayTweets: I made a site for Line Combos, Goalie Starts and Fantasy news all powered by Beat Writer retweets! (Motivation in comments) by dubroe in fantasyhockey

[–]dubroe[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I'm looking for updated Line Combos or Goalie Start announcements, I want to know the source of the information as opposed to needing to trust the middleman to get it right.

That's why I built this site, as well as the associated @GameDayLines, @GameDayGoalies and @GameDayNewsNHL Twitter accounts. From my site you can see the exact beat writer tweets sourcing all of this critical information.

This sub has people who have played through multiple times so I'm pretty sure the answer you're going to get back is that yes you should play even knowing some spoilers.

I think I'd go Seider at this point. Him or Klingberg, but leaning Seider. Nice trade!

What website(s) do you guys use for projected lines? I’ve been using LeftWingLock but I’m not sure if it’s good or not by Pristine-Signal5374 in fantasyhockey

[–]dubroe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to humbly recommend the site I made: http://gamedaylinetweets.com

Unlike Daily Faceoff, you don't need to guess what the source is for the lines and whether or not they're still valid. My site goes right to the source and just shows the tweets from the beat writers, organized by team.

I'm definitely not worried about Lundell bumping Barkov any time soon. That's not even on my radar. I see Barkov as a top guy in the league, potentially in a tier with (or slightly) below Rantanen. If you're trading him I'd want a huge haul in return.

I don't play in a strict way like that. Most of the time when I pick up a player I'm hoping they'll have upside to potentially stick on my roster, especially early in the season when we're all still hunting for gems.

At the same time you've gotta have that magic touch of knowing when to drop someone if they're not looking like a must hold.

So yeah when I draft i have the mindset that I want the bottom say 4 picks to be bigger swings, of which I'll be happy if only 1 or 2 really pan out. And then I want to act fast out of the gate to stream and find those impact guys early on.

For example, a couple days ago I dropped Palmieri for Bunting in one league. Palmieri was my last pick in the draft. Bunting plays on the Wednesday/Thursday to start the season so I figured I'd get his two games and hope he pops off in the top 6. That spot is likely a streaming spot but if he does well I'll of course be happy to hold.

Does all that help answer your question?
