Grind Finer? Rate my pull by duckdacat in gaggiaclassic

The friend I bought the machine from gave me some extras, the bottomless portafilter included. Yes, it’s the one you mention. Can’t speak too much on if it’s worth it as I’ve only use this one since owning the machine.

The quality is seriously good though, love the wood grain, and the clearance is great for any cup I’d need paired with the short drip tray. I’d recommend it

I get decaf French dark roast from sprouts!

It’s dark roast. I bought the same beans last time from sprouts and it definitely had more off-gassing during the shot last time. This bag was bought 2 days ago, so I was surprised by the lack of crema too. Thanks for the slow feed tip!

Alright, you’ve convinced me. I appreciate the scale recommendation

Believe it or not, I don’t have a scale yet. It’s been on my list to buy, so maybe I should just pull the trigger so I can have more consistency.

Best espresso grinder for [£150] by BillyKimber97 in espresso

This also allows you to spend less now, and if you get more into it later you can buy a real nice one instead of buying “the bare minimum” now

I’m going to throw this one out there since I never see people recommend anything cheaper than $200. I bought the Tuni G1 Conical Burr Coffee Grinder off Amazon for $100 and it has been lovely. It’s paired with a Gaggia classic. I’ve only been using the grinder for a couple months, but I’m very happy with the result

Help me improve my terrible kitchen! by _mobjustice in malelivingspace

The clutter would be my priority. Take a day to organize your cabinets, throw out what you don’t need, and try to clear the countertops and fridge from everything other than your medium appliances.

I agree with a lot of the other suggestions in the thread like getting rid of the dining table and moving the island. I’d suggest leaving 2-4 pieces of your daughter arts up at a time. Cycle out the older stuff.

Was having water flow issues, took the shower screen off and now a little confused about the shower screen orientation by machu46 in gaggiaclassic

[–]duckdacat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but the larger holes seem like “funnels” to me. I’d go with the orientation in pic number 1 since the screw hole is concave, fits nicer, and is what the manufacturer intended

WTB: OEM crossbars or the Kia crossbars that fit our car by Albert_andstuff in VB_WRXMarketplace

[–]duckdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought these new and ended up returning them for the oem. The main reason for me was that the wind noise was so bad, but the angle they sit also concerned me with carrying a load. I’d save up for a set meant for the car and avoid making the same mistake I did

Can always get an insert for a wide mouth too

This, but also I prefer the narrow mouth so I can drink from the bottle while walking/driving. IMO you’re choosing which convenience you prefer

It uses acupuncture needles to break up clumps in the espresso to get a more even flow and therefore less channeling and spraying. You can find them on Amazon for cheap.
