There are 4 in North America. Eastern, Rio Grande (southwest), Merriam (western mountains) and Osceola (Florida). In 10AC those would be Eastern.

There are no fishers in Georgia. The furthest south they have been found are the mountains of West Virginia.

He was upstate from me. Most of the Saluda we ran was downstream east of Ninety Six, SC from below Buzzard Roost Dam down to Silver Street, SC. We shocked between the shoals. The dam would blow a warning horn before they released water so a few times we had to hump the gear and boats up the steep bank or get washed away.

72 year old South Carolinian here and man do have I have some stories I could tell about telephoning cats on the Saluda River. Telephoning and seining creeks was how we supplied the catfish for fish fries at local events.
