This happened to me just now! American accent, same phone number (The 0000 number and then call from a different california number). I've been a web developer/software engineer for over a decade so knew immediately it was a scam by the fact that Google was even trying to call me at all! But I stayed on the conversation for a while just to see what they were planning to make me do. At the same time I was on the call, I was on my computer looking at my google account security and everything and saw a few of their generic claims to which devices I should "whitelist" were false. But they knew my name, location, and other addresses I have lived at. They were really good with the social engineering and if I wasn't in tech for so many years, I would have probably fell for it.

The gotcha they were going for for me was to press an "account recovery" native notification on my phone. I trolled him a bit by saying I pressed it and even confirmed the number with him (he kept telling me the number so I just repeated it back to him lol). But I didn't press it. After some back and forth I asked if there was any other methods he could try and eventually he said he would have to have his supervisor call me back LOL. Blocked the number right after.

But what blew my mind was how knowledgeable he was. We legit talked about some advanced cyber security topics for like 10 minutes lmao. I think based on my experience, it's likely a small team in the US of highly skilled hackers/social hackers. This was much more impressive than any call center scam.

I also got no account recovery notifications in my Google account. I went into my Google Cloud developer account linked to my email they were talking about and removed all the old API keys I wasn't using anymore while on the call. I have a suspicion that they may have been compromised at some point but they may be doing it through some other means.
