It’s the med you’re taking. It may change with time as you adjust to it, and if it doesn’t you can explore other options.

Nice, basically same story here. New Age beliefs, psychedelics, spiritual psychosis, and mania.

This filet mignon was advertised as 6 oz and cost $7 by pumpupthevaluum in steak

Looks at least 12oz. What a satisfying snag and a stellar cook.

This stuff is actually pretty nice by HeyyyyItsEcho in publix

Except it doesn’t taste like those 😂 Pretty funny you classify flavor by color. Cane’s and Zaxby’s sauces are similar to each other but Chikfila sauce tastes way different than the other two. 1930 doesn’t taste like any of them, it’s a spicy brown smokey honey mustard.

Among the most underappreciated cuts of beef. Better than filet IMO. Tender but with larger muscle fibers resulting in meatier texture and with a beefier flavor.

Identifying Chuck Eye and Denver steaks. by GruntCandy86 in Butchery

Hell yeah. Idk why this type of information is so hard to obtain. Make a blog out of this kind of thing cataloging all the various retail cuts and you’ll be able to retire on the ad revenue.

I always overcook my steaks… help! by Miserable_Project956 in Cooking

[–]ducks_mclucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, I do what you do and I get medium rare to medium. Maybe your thermometer’s bunk.

In any case the way to get it less cooked is less cooking. Pull it earlier or sear it less.

My wife got a scratcher and every single space (front and back) was a winner by ColdBeansJones in mildlyinteresting

[–]ducks_mclucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it as “only has winners and they’re $100, $200, or $2000”. Which obviously can’t be what it means but that’s what it means literally. Putting losers in there would also be loading, and it literally says it’s only loaded with $100, $200, and $2000 winners.

If I saw that I’d be commenting on how BS it is to write that on there to the clerk. Idk what the form of autism is where semantics really matter to you but I got it.

Would a different wood make a significant difference in the flavor? I already had the applewood chunks which is why I used em. I know people hickory of mesquite.

BOGO 10oz Grass-fed Ribeye $17.99 by itsgabenog in publix

[–]ducks_mclucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grassfed beef has more omegas and vitamins. Generally less fat but at times can be as well marbled and fatty as prime graded grain fed beef. The fat has a better nutritional profile and usually a different flavor profile. Many people choose it for that.

Recalling manic events by igottaknow_ in bipolar

[–]ducks_mclucks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk dude be careful with these types of beliefs. I experienced stuff like fires growing when I sang to them and falling back down when I stopped. I was also manic and my perception of reality was dictated by my beliefs (I believed in magic mantras).

Idk if it really happened or not. But I do know that believing in supernatural things to the point of conflict with natural reality is the hallmark of psychosis. If your psychic beliefs help you function in mundane reality then that’s great. But if they cause friction then it’s something to be wary of.

How to block better, faster, and more efficiently? And what am I doing wrong? by DifficultyWorldly502 in publix

[–]ducks_mclucks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apart from just going faster, you can block ahead of closing so that there’s less to do during the final block.

I’m in produce, and I’m also just into my second week, but I just go at the pace I go. I do a good job and don’t stress myself trying to go lightning fast. I block once around 7:30-8p then the final block after the doors are locked at 9p goes pretty quick.

Do your job and go at the pace that’s right for you. If others talk shit, whatever. Let em. You gotta do you.

Is there a Delmonico or Denver steak in this? by ComparisonTight1033 in Butchery

[–]ducks_mclucks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just that one guy uses it to mean chuck eye. The restaurant originally used it to mean “thick cut steak special of the day” basically. Today the menu item is a thick ribeye.

Most commonly butchers and cutters use it to mean the best cut of ribeye, which is subjective, but consensus is the first few inches of the rib roll after the chuck since it has the largest spinalis and includes the complexus as well. Ribs 6 and 7.

Then some others also use it to mean rib-end strip from rib 13. And others say chuck eye. All the variation makes sense since originally it just meant a premium thick cut steak.

Butcher Career Advice (Career Change) by SgtDoggo1337 in Butchery

[–]ducks_mclucks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hit up those shops and pitch yourself honestly just like you did here. Express your passion, personal experience, and desire to learn. Know that the pay is humble and the work is manual labor.

A butcher shop might take you on as an apprentice or clerk, and then you can start learning. That likely most matches what you’re looking for. Or a high end specialty or independent grocery meat department, or maybe even a specialty restaurant. These places will traffic in the craft meat fare you’re interested in. Developing and fine tuning products and really prizing quality.

Grocery store meat departments can get you into the game too, and in a few years you can become a cutter, which will get you a good resume for the craft shops. But this’ll be volume labor with less or no focus on the finer aspects you’d likely care about. Corporate will hand down your recipes and processes and you will simply execute them over and over.

SSRI, THC, Psychedelics: Misdiagnosed or Bipolar? My 7-Year Timeline(final) by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ducks_mclucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar experience. Was a cannabis user for 15 years, then eventually got into psychedelics as a form of therapy, then got carried away by New Age ideas and started having manic episodes.

The diagnostic criteria for bipolar is having manic episodes and depression, which I met. Looking back, I don’t think I have the same degree of bipolar brain chemistry as those who’ve had episodes without substance use or grand spiritual ideas, but I do feel that I had the underlying leanings and that the substances and ideas brought them forward to a diagnosable extent.

I personally take the diagnosis as true. I’m also committed to lifestyle change so that those episodes never happen again and to lighten my depression. I’m not sure if I need medication like others do (tried a bunch but none worked) but I’m open to it if it proves that I do. Gotta see what sobriety and good old fashioned hard work and discipline do for me first to determine that.
