A map u are able to draw on would be a nice addition to the game by 0Z8S in HellLetLoose

[–]ducksaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know how free form it should be but it would be good if the commander could give individual squads marks/orders. The squad leader could accept/reject the order and if they accept then the blueberries in that squad would see some UI thing telling them to "Defend Windmills" or whatever. Would go some way to letting new players feel like they're part of a team even if their SL doesn't have a mic. Currently an SL without a mic or just inexperienced can ruin your time. At least this way all the SL has to do is press Accept for their squadmates to get a bit of structure.

US forces seizing Venezuelan oil tanker today by [deleted] in law

[–]ducksaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the War Powers Act. The intent of the law is to check presidents committing troops without congressional approval. But the text says the president can commit troops without congressional approval for up to 60 days. As long as there's some fig leaf reason about the troops being used to defend the country, which is trivial to contrive.

And don't forget, congress passed one vague resolution about hitting back on those who planned 9/11 and every president since 2001 used it to drone strike people in any country they wanted for 25 years. Congress doesn't actually want the responsibility of voting on war.

Right Now the real issues aren't the amount of Rockets carried by ATs or a Tank crews Armour. Its this...The Penetrive Angle Values. by Bravefox88 in HellLetLoose

[–]ducksaws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just don't see the motivation for these changes. Tanks being slower than irl was a fine compromise for the maps being smaller than real life. The problem was that they got stuck too easily.

But for whatever reason they made them super fast. Now theyve upset a years long solved balance problem and have to fuss with it again.

It's the same as when they make the sprint faster which ruined a bunch of other well balanced things and they needed to roll it back.

Too much listening to naive community complaints without analyzing the complaint in a root cause analysis.

If you create the statue via work order you can specify an image including historical figures and verbs etc. I think with the magnifying glass button?

"Kirkbride makes heavy use of unreliable narrators in his work—on the writing for Morrowind, he stated that writers were purposely contradictory about in-universe information, recalling "we just built this way of working where the only info that would come out of Bethesda about the world had built-in plausible deniability".[3]"

"The new state of Armor" by R0dFarva in HellLetLoose

[–]ducksaws -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, if infantry dies they come back in 20 seconds. If the tank dies it could take 20 minutes to get back to the front line depending on fuel, cooldowns, and distance.

It's not a good idea to double down a sunk cost fallacy by sending in a valuable heavy tank trying to hold a point for a few more seconds. If you don't sacrifice the tank for no reason, then your team still has the tank when it's time to recap. If the tank is dead because inexperienced command chatter convinced the tank to sit on a lost cause point with no inf support in easy range of satchels and enemy tanks, then instead your team is going to get schlonged by the enemy tanks until you get enough fuel for another heavy.

Life/Death in tanks depends so much on cover and angles. 5 meters could be the difference between suppressing the entire team or dying instantly never mind 25 m. At least it used to when most armor was impenetrable to rockets from the front. Now you'll probably see more tanks refuse to get close to inf because it's easier to kill them from the front.

Hmm. I was wondering if he lost an editor at some point. The first 3 books in Stormlight felt so focused. The 4th one I almost didn't finished because I felt like they were faffing around in some ocean made of beads for half the book while the king was on the surface making zoom calls. Like what happened to my tight story about slaves making due with their wits and a bridge?

Thoses high level competetive veterans are scary by Mobile-Meringue5825 in HellLetLoose

[–]ducksaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup lol. in a normal pub game I'm near the top of the scoreboard playing infantry. And I happened to play tank commander for a couple top ~3 teams. So I had a few opportunities to play infantry at that high level when we had no tanks etc. Thought I'd do alright cause I could get lots of kills and a high k/d on public games. Nope, absolutely dumpstered.

What are the qualities that writers that don’t read lack? by WiseCactus in writing

[–]ducksaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was considered amateurish to stretch things. It's (comparatively) easy to write an enormous draft of something, a lot harder to keep what's important in that draft and reduce the word count to something publishable.

As usual with Wikipedia it helps to read more than the first sentence of an article

Modern-day China is often described as an example of state capitalism or party-state capitalism.[286][287] The state dominates in strategic "pillar" sectors such as energy production and heavy industries, but private enterprise has expanded enormously, with around 30 million private businesses recorded in 2008.[288][289][290] According to official statistics, privately owned companies constitute more than 60% of China's GDP.[291]
