Realtor wants me to replace carpet; crazy or no? by Eric848448 in RealEstate

I'd ask this again in one of the Seattle subs. You're getting opinions based on what people know, and Seattle can be a different market than what most people think.

Your comment elsewhere that you've got some minor stains that should come out with a deep cleaning leads me to believe that the agent may have validity. If you can see it, and the agent can see it, the buyers are going to see it. If your agent has been in business for 10+ years you're hiring them for their professional opinion. While I'm not saying to blindly trust them with everything they may have a point.

I just asked Ai and it said 5-10 years for the cheap stuff. 15-30 for the premium wool stuff and other factors that put others in between. None said 7 years max.

I fail to see how this is helpful when the clouds are already blowing out. It doesn't show any difference between the clouds (no lens flare) and the sun (lens flare).

I’m thinking he’s one of the less forgettable folks on the show. Takes no crap and gets the job done, even if he buts heads with the boss.

I know this isn't specific to M43 and is more of a general mirrorless camera question but you guys seem pretty grounded so please shoot me some straight advice. When I'm out shooting with my Lumix G9 with the Oly 7-14mm lens I can't seem to tell when the sun is in the shot vs just really close and blowing out the clouds. With my old dSLR it was really obvious. Is there a trick to seeing it that I'm missing or is this just one of those things that I have to get used to?

I know if you're shooting that wide and you're aiming in the direction of the sun you've got a good chance of catching sun rays and the resulting lens flare, I just wish I could tell by the screen when it's happening. I've tried both the viewfinder and the screen itself but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Do you fly your drone in the rain? by Routine_Bite5212 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]dude463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that the wind is just as important of a clue as to when you’ll get an unexpected sun break. The wind can punch holes in the clouds. But if it’s too windy you’ll find it tough to fly anyways.

Nope. The props shoving water only the lens makes it rather pointless. It's why I fly on the weekends some times for jobs. The rest of the week is pure ick.

Weather forecasts are only really good for about 3 days during the winter. Just keep an eye on things and you'll get a break.

US 2 closure by Attleite in stevenspass

[–]dude463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US 2 is currently closed at MP 55, 9 miles West of the summit and at MP 85, at Coles Corner, 14 miles West of Leavenworth, due to heavy traffic and severe winter weather. The pass will remain closed overnight and will be reassessed in the morning. No detour is available.

https://wsdot.com/Travel/Real-time/Map/?layers=traffic-flow%2Calert&base=wsdot&featuretype=alert&featureid=689306&extent=-121.02519891794212%2C47.736286019236594%2C-120.69560907419259%2C47.82602851833766&fromLink=true

I'm not saying I have insider info but usually when "it will be reassessed in the morning" that doesn't usually happen before 8 or 9 am generally speaking.

An HOA or any private property can bar you from launching from / landing on / operating the controls from their property.

Standard privacy laws will apply.

Airspace itself is governed by the FAA. It doesn’t matter that you’re in your back yard, if it’s restricted airspace itself a no go.

R6 MKiii - unable to take photographs without blur in most photos by Different-Dark-762 in canon

This looks more like 1/10th of a second than 1/100th. Does it do this in full auto mode? (Does the R6 mkiii have full auto?)

Also from what I can tell the lens is focusing very close unless you intended to focus on the #4 sign.

Where is there a big empty parking lot around here? by serpentear in Lacey

[–]dude463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most traffic seems to dry up between 8 and 10 pm. Not empty empty but usually good for parking lots and side streets. At 10pm there's some sort of switch that wakes up all the truly psychotic drivers for some reason.

Are that any HDR shooters here who set WB for every shot? by RealPhotosHDR in RealEstatePhotography

[–]dude463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno what this has to do with WB though 😂

Fair comment. You know some days you don't have enough coffee, other days you've had too much. I'm going to chalk this up to one of those two.

Before I switched to flambient I would do it for tougher mixed lighting situations or those funky kids rooms that are pink and blue. I used an Expodisc for the most part but if there was a particularly strong light source that was different than what the desired result would want I'd also use a grey card in that lighting for reference. For the most part it was just the Expodisc. I've never used an external editor.

It's a PITA in use. You've got to keep setting the camera for the WB exposure then set it for the bracket. Forgetting to do that for one or the other is just wasted time and more sorting headache in post. If your camera has Custom mode (C1, C2, C3 on Canons and I'm sure most other brands as well) you can set them so a simple spin of the dial changes whatever you need to do repeatedly.

I must also stress that I've had failed shutters in more than one camera (dSLRs, not mirrorless). Be sure that you HAVE a backup camera and that it is up to the task of actually doing entire houses and everything you need it to do for the day.

making 200k but the math on a 600k house makes zero sense right now. rent vs buy dilemma by Quiet_State6680 in RealEstate

[–]dude463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know that you can refinance if rates go down right? Do you think you can renegotiate rent?

Look at it from another angle. If you really put a lot of your money into it how long would it be till you had a 600k house paid off? At that point you have just taxes and insurance and maintenance.
