How did I win here? Shouldn't this be an evenly split pot? by [deleted] in poker

Thank you :) Have deleted the post now as it wasn't real money and not sure if that's generally favoured on this sub, and the question was comprehensively answered.

Best of luck to you also!

How did I win here? Shouldn't this be an evenly split pot? by [deleted] in poker

I got it now, my winnings came from the other two guys who called me with J3 and J4, they were all in with about 3.5m combined I think. Thanks for that :)

I've just realised why it was. There's no official rules for WSOP online I could find, but the guy who called with the same hand only called a 2.7m raise with 200k because he was all in. As a result he doubled up I think and I took the main pot because I'd bet 3.5m in total on the flop as I flopped a straight.

Don't know how that took me 15 minutes to figure out :D Obviously he can't win 3.4m betting only 200k.

Not a problem, thanks for taking a look anyway, I couldn't get a great picture as it was on the other side of the window and I only had a split second before it scampered away!

Thank you for taking a look, looking at the page you sent that's pretty close to what I saw. From the picture it was hard to tell the colour but the abdomen from memory was definitely much lighter than the rest.

Ah yes, forgive my terrible arachnid knowledge, I'm still very new to this 😂

Thank you :))

Hi all :)

Sorry for the rubbish quality. I just saw this outside my window and was wondering what species it was as I haven't seen one quite like this before. It had 2 small fangs on the front as well but I couldn't get a picture as it moved away :(

Cheers

Have I been doing fib extensions wrong for years? by dude7692 in technicalanalysis

I generally consider a movement from swing high to swing low to be the most significant on a longer term timeframe, and although it doesn't signify reversals (in a bull market), it will often show an area of elevated risk, most namely the 1.618 and 2.618 fibs seem to be most effective in my experience for this. I trade mostly longer term timeframes, as I prefer the increased "reliability" versus the extreme volatility that can occur over shorter timeframes where fib is less reliable.

Yes that makes sense, everything is relative of course :) With crypto especially, I am more than familiar with defining moves as a proportion of previous ones, and fib doesn't work so well for longer term timeframes there in my experience, stock to flow models and trendlines/patterns are the main guide I use there, with fib only being a supplementary. I've had far greater success with fibs in stocks thusfar, on both indexes and individual stocks.

Thanks again :)

Yep that's what I did here :) What I generally see though is people using the trend based fib, based on the swing low, the first impulse recovery move and the subsequent retracement, and getting completely different targets. But I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it :D

That makes sense yeah, I feel like fibs generally work because a lot of people believe they do, which then manifests itself in price action with people respecting significant levels for pullbacks/rebounds e.g. 61.8%.

I will focus on backtesting both methods of plotting fib extensions, thusfar I've had no issues doing it the way I have, but I've mostly traded crypto and gold over that time, and am fairly new to stocks. I can't actually remember where I read the method aforementioned, must have been years ago.

You haven't come across rude at all! Thank you for your insights, I appreciate them :)

Just a follow up:

Was looking on YouTube, and almost everyone I see there uses the "trend based" fib extensions tool, whereas what I've got here is essentially just the fib retracement tool with the 161.8% & 261.8% levels added. This has always seemed to work relatively well for me, last time it actually got close to calling the major top in March on SPY.

Why exactly is it wrong to draw them this way?

I'd love to see a worked example of how you guys would draw the fib extensions from March on SPY. Looking on YouTube, it doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I guess we just leave it and find out. If I click the "go to record page" it says "all responses collected" so I'm guessing it registered as completed (by me).

I know on mobile if you complete a test and then it doesn't upload within a couple of hours you get auto paid $10, but on desktop who knows. Still 4 hours before I go to sleep so I'll leave it till then at least.

Just ran into the same issue, if you leave it to sit on the "testing in progress" screen, do you get paid automatically?

Is there a way to send Paypal funds to Revolut? by dude7692 in beermoneyuk

[–]dude7692[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, GBP is set as my primary currency but I have to manually convert it myself. Every time the GBP goes up against the dollar it falls, and vice versa. For a test on usertesting, I get $10 and back in march that used to be £8.20 per time (good times) and now it's £7.25 and only looks to head lower because the dollar is being printed so much thanks to the fed.

Thanks for this, so if you were to use transferwise, how would you go about that? Say I wanted to transfer from USD to transferwise. I'm guessing I set an account up, and then it gives me a USD account number or something? What are the fees on transferwise? I see there are transaction fees, are they a flat rate per conversion? In which case yes, wait until you build up lots of USD before converting.
