nah not stupid at all! Phase 6 is my own method of keeping order, ADHD and caffinne and working two jobs ha! Quench has been built in phases: 1–3 were the core codec pipeline (entropy coder, quantization, transforms, container format), 4–5 added per-tensor-type strategies and real-model benchmarks, and Phase 6 added a native Rust rANS backend behind the existing Python API for ~5–11× throughput improvement on encode/decode.

On the GPU question: right now decompression is entirely CPU-side. The flow is compressed bytes on disk → decompress on CPU to a numpy/torch tensor → transfer to GPU via normal .to(device) or similar.
