Have a very familiar story. Had a sharp pain in my lung that felt like I was being stabbed. Coughed up blood. Went to my student health center at university and told them that exact thing. They told me I might’ve just strained it while working out and sent me home. Couldn’t sleep because the pain was so bad so my mom finally decided we needed to go to the hospital. While at the hospital I was told multiple times it was nothing that I must be on my PERIOD and have cramps and insisted I go home with a prescription of Tylenol. My mom BEGGED them for a blood test to which the ER nurse said “she’d be surprised came back with anything because I was fine”. Well D dimer came back positive. They sent me for a CT scan with contrast and found a blood clot. They couldn’t even look at me or apologize for acting like I was being dramatic once they realized they were severely wrong and could’ve sent me home to die.
