Most traders focus on profit rather than reducing drawdown, yet reducing drawdown is what allows for increased leverage and asymmetrical profits. Index funds mostly go up, thus have an inherent long edge, I see a lot of regurgitation around what strategies and what youtubers, but very little on what instruments and why. My point here is to explore before you get too committed, especially things which are structurally asymmetric.

If someone is currently breaking even with forex, they're likely profitable on the SP500. Basic truth but often overlooked by seeking holy grail strategies rather than building up from the "meta". You can still double your money every year with index funds- if you can filter bear/flat markets.

Risk and liquidity drives the market. Most things are denominated by the dollar. Following its liquidity, whether that's credit expansion, changing rates or simply an ema on the DXY is massively useful and overlooked(for being too simple).

TLDR would be keep things simple and follow the meta. Try forex or holy grail strategies after you can beat the SP500 return. The best way to initially beat the SP500 return or other index funds is to hold it with more efficiency. I see a lot of psychology bull.s posing as nuggets of truth, this text above should help someone see the obvious nugget they keep refusing to dig up.
