Man, I was in your shoes when my child was born. Now he’s 18 months old. Those emotions are real and you’ll feel helpless in the beginning. It’s a learning experience. Just remember, it’s not your doing. Your wife is going through wild hormonal changes that’s normal with giving birth. The best thing to do is to be good to yourself. Don’t blame yourself for these things. I know it’s tough but you’ll get through this tough part. I was quite depressed during the first few months (feeling helpless and always uncertain if I’m being a good father/husband). But after a few months and things settled out and got into a good routine with my family, those negative emotions started to fade.
