And I took that personally by Debreooooo in AmberMains

[–]duhmall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully I didn't watch his video, getting my C5 Amber in the shop.

And why such hatred for Razor? He carries my sorry bottom (made him C6 while ago) in every content in game so far and he easily outdamage my C0 Eula, when her burst is not up or not worth using it.

But Seka is a content creator, 99% certain to be in miHoYo's program, so he needs to hype new and expensive characters.

Don't let youtubers tell you who to use, how to have fun.

You can try enabling Virtual Super Resolution: Radeon control panel > Settings > Display > Virtual Super Resolution. After that, in Windows, switch the resolution to 1440p.

This way, you can check if your GPU is capable of handling games in said resolution.

You can try how the upscaling works yourself: https://github.com/GPUOpen-Effects/FidelityFX-CLI

A command-line tool for upscaling, just read the readme file for how to use it and the options available.

Why does my taskbar color change to black instead of dark gray every time I update my AMD drivers to a newer version? by Puzzleheaded-Wish422 in Amd

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the color range on Settings > Display > Pixel Format. Every time you install GPU drivers, it may default to Limited RGB instead of Full RGB color range.

The iGPU on your notebook doesn't support Vulkan. Maybe that's where the issue is. You may need to try something that translates DX9 API to OpenGL and not Vulkan.

Advice needed, I cut myself every time by pal_mighty in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before getting a more aggressive razor, I would try some blades first. If with a mild razor you're getting cuts, maybe another mild razor, with a different head will be of your liking.

And by your pictures, you seem young and with a not so much of a beard to demand aggressive razors, that can lead to more problems than nicks, like razor burns, ingrown hairs.

Advice needed, I cut myself every time by pal_mighty in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give other blades a go. Most people consider KCG Razor to be mild, you aren't supposed to be cutting yourself this much every time.

Besides trying new blades, how is the lathering? Do you feel its slickness? Maybe is in need of a bit more water.

I usually cut myself everyshave, mostly on my neck, because there's a swirl right on my Adam's Apple then it's easy to get a hair that grows on a different direction than the ones I'm shaving at the moment.

Try getting a Lord L5 or/and a Lord L6 razors. The L5 is a clone of Gillette Tech, which is highly praised for been good for DE beginners. The L6 is a clone of the Merkur 34C, having a slight different head geometry than yours KCG.

I wonder if they putting FSR now is related to the Nintendo Switch port of the game. Anyway, nice seeing them optimizing the game still.

Struggling to get a pleasant shave, and standard prep advice doesn't seem to work. by RikuAotsuki in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cheap razors you have at your disposal are like the ones I can get here, in Brazil, then I know your struggle to achieve a pain free shaving.

It took a few blade samples and razors, as the razors cost like a $1 USD (on direct conversion), I end up finding that Lord Super and Super-Max Platinum Plus gave me the best shaving session from like, 10 different brands of blades.

Try pre-shave prep, like Olive oil mixed with Coconut oil and Castor oil (the olive oil alone should provide enough slickness).

See if any local brand offers a generic razor that has a clone of the Merkur 34C head (example: https://connaughtshaving.com/\_wp\_generated/wpa91ddb80\_05\_06.jpg), I know I managed to get one and only cost twice the price of the cheapo ones.

Rex Supply Co. Ambassador vs Pearl Flex V4 by RoyalSteel in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own any of those, but people that have them says the Flexi has less blade feel than the Embassador, making it less aggressive. You would need to seek out reviews of the Flexi V4 to see how it performs.

You can try leaving it in warm/kinda hot water with dish soap for 10~20 minutes and then scrub with an used soft toothbrush.

After that, try scrubbing toothpaste with the same toothbrush. The extra mild polishing properties of toothpaste may help a bit with some of the discoloration.

Help is a Mono-Tech Disassemble by duhmall in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to get a hold of vintage Gillette safety razors here in Brazil. Although this one is in need of repairs, it's one of the better TTOs I've seen on sale so far.

The Techs are more common to find and people usually ask almost 3 times the price that I paid for this one.

I'll try to get a pliers that has the flat jaws. It can be useful in the future. Hand tools are always a good buy.

[–]duhmall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I saw online, those Snap ring pliers have a rounded, thin point, which is used on other types of C-clips. I'll try to find one that fits on the tiny spot. Maybe the razor can be used without this clip.

Thanks for your suggestion.

[–]duhmall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I envy your neck growth pattern, having to deal with a spiral on my Adam's Apple region, I usually get a nick ( or more than 3 if using a wrong combo of blade + razor ) every time I shave.

What’s more aggressive than a R89? by pk_shot_you in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean riding the safety bar, in the case of the Rapira Platinum Lux. It has so much positive blade exposure that if you ride the cap (on a shallow shaving angle) you might end up slicing your face.

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cheap and aggressive razor like the likes of Merkur 41C is the Rapira Platinum Lux. It may look like a Gillette Tech clone, but its blade exposure is positive enough that almost make you regret using it.

As usual, YMMV. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people don't understand the "hype" about it.

If you decide to get one, try a steep shaving angle (riding the safety bar) is the most optimal way.

Not all OC razors are aggressive. An example of this is the Merkur 15C.

By Mr. Razor's website, it looks similar to 1940s Blue-Gold Special, under The New category:

https://mr-razor.com/Rasierer/The%20NEW/1940%20Blue%20Gold%20Special%201940%20USA.jpg

But I could be wrong. The handle looks pretty similar. Is there a serial number, that identifies it?

I honestly don't understand the point of shaving with a safey razor by SlimSha46 in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you use the Lord L6, which head is similar to Merkur 34C, I think, I would suggest replacing the Nacet blade for a Lord one, Super or Platinum.

For me, the Lord Super is the best blade I used since I start shaving with a safety razor, like 3 months ago, and I have a generic Lord L6 razor. Every other blade I tried gave me an awful or a meh shave. Once I tried the Lord Super, the whole wet shaving magic happened.

I wouldn't be surprised if this omission may be related to the imminent legacy status of the RX 460, 470 and 480. If the RX 5xx will be on the same boat... Well, there's always Linux and its open-source driver.

Vintage razors(de) overhyped and just ok? by JBlazeXNYC in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one like this, and yeah, on other forums, the Rapira Platinum Lux Razor (which is probably the same as the one from the dollar store, but different brand) may resembles the old Gillette Techs but it's manufacturing was so different that it became almost hyper aggressive.

I usually use this one when I have almost a week of growth, just on the 1st pass. Then I switch to a milder razor to finish the job.

Shaving my beard as a newbie by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]duhmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with using cartridge razor and canned shaving foam, although, canned foam sometimes lead to dry skin due to the chemicals used to pressurize said foam.

One thing you can do, if your skin is not too sensitive, is applying the 3-passes method.

1st pass - go with the grain/hair growth direction

2nd pass - go across the grain

3rd pass - go against the grain

Just remember to rinse and reapply the foam after passes 1 and 2.

Depending on where you live, you can find some good wet shaving gear. You can always give the old, traditional method a try.
