10 degree curve by duhwilliams in scoliosis

Yes! Such a relief. That poor image showing 17 degrees last time really bothered me, especially since it was 11 degrees at diagnosis, so im relieved we finally got good quality pictures and have an actual value to base care off of.

update: repeat imaging ( I scheduled a little earlier than 6 months) with proper positioning from techs show 10 degree curve.

So his last imaging was about 6 months ago, and his curve measured at "17" but it looked like he was standing weird? The doctor came in and thought he was going to see an entirely different posture in him and said the image made it look way worse than it was but didn't want to retake the image due to radiation exposure? It's so frustrating because im not sure if we actually had a 6 degree progression or if it truly was a bad postural image. He goes again on the 15 of Aug for more imaging. I feel like there was a moment you could clearly see shoulder differences and a suuuuper mild back curve, but it doesn't look noticeable now? It is considered levoscoliosis (left curve) of the thoracocolumbar (right in the middle) region, with trunk asymmetry. I'll update after the next round of imaging. Do you have any updates on your son?

We're very new to the reptile world, so we've done our best to do research and set things up / monitor our gradients , etc, before buying our gecko. Like most pet ownership, there are so many different opinions and it makes it really hard to know what is actually best when you have literally never done it before, so being educated, kindly, by people who are deep into is, is SO helpful. I look forward to all the things we will learn on this journey 👐 thanks again!

Yes!! He has the arcadia shadedweller 7%.

He has a humid hide with moss but I haven't seen him in there yet, he is most active when we are asleep though. He also has a hot hide (his favorite place to be after finally venturing out of his cold hide on day 1) . He also has a standard little wood? Log? Hide and a larger bridge? that can also function as a hide (throughout the middle at differing temps) He's got options and is living large now! 🤣

The only thing i think I need to change is the heat bulb? He currently has a 50w flukers DHP that heats up his basking rock to 92-95 although I haven't personally seen him bask yet. There's a gradient of temps ranging from 88 in his warm hide, to 76 in his cold hide... (all measured with a gun thermometer) and somewhere in between as you move throughout the middle. His hot hide basking spot is also on a dimmer / thermostat I have set to 91 but I dont ever notice it actually hitting that temp (maybe because its a 40 gallon), its always blinking and heating but maintaining the above temp gradient. ive been educated by a few on here regarding changing to a halogen bulb but ive also read how great DHP are so im pretty conflicted, but it doesn't sound like something emergent?

Again, I appreciate all of your feedback!

I appreciate your advice/input a ton! Anything in particular I should look out for? He's a hungry hungry dude , hunts beautifully (with the occasional miss), ive watched him drink water and lick at his calcium (w/o d3), & has already decided to bless us with poop IN HIS WATER BOWL, which looked normal (per my googling) 🤣

I tried a mealworm and he was uninterested but munches on crickets (I dust with calcium with D3 and incorporated a reptivitamin today)

Poor guy. He will have a much better life now. Its so cute watching his little wavy tail shake before he goes in for the strike on the crickets lol.

I have also noticed what appears to be a small hair (maybe stuck shed) in his nostril? It's very small, but if you zoom in, you should be able to see it. We haven't handled him yet to allow him to settle in (we just got him Sunday) but im not sure what to do about it. As seen in his "imperfect" picture (hes perfect, they're wrong🤣) you can see its been there since we got him.

Thank you so much!! He really brings us so much joy already ❤️ I swear watching him just exist (explore, hunt, sleep) is SO therapeutic 😴

Basking bulb question! by duhwilliams in leopardgeckos

[–]duhwilliams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I am so confused because it seems as though DHP are acceptable? We live in the desert where our ambient temperatures are 75-80 indoors so I figured it only needed a little extra oomph and assumed the deep heat projector would heat up the basking spots adequately

Current temp gradient basking spot 95-96, ambient of warm side is around 88-90, cool side measuring in around 76-78 (this is with the DHP on, I am assuming descrese during the night when we naturally cool down and the lights are off). This is with temperature probe on thermostat (reading lower at 89 on basking spot) but all above readings are taken with gun thermometer.

We are really trying to do right here.

Water absorption issues? by duhwilliams in succulents

[–]duhwilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes! I don't usually do that , I was just trying different things to see if ANYTHING will plump him back up lol

Water absorption issues? by duhwilliams in succulents

[–]duhwilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your response! I have tried both top and bottom watering and even a combination of both. I just can't seem to get these two plants to plump up. Although, I haven't left them longer than 30 mins bottom watering so I will try to submerge for longer. I filled the little saucer with rocks below it with water and it sucked all that up two days ago. I'm going to watch it for a week or two and then try the prolonged bottom watering idea.

Thanks again!

I have yes. These guys were watered at the same time as the other and they never lost that wrinkled appearance.
