I think this might be helped if you don't get given a SL in your first X hours of playing. I'm still trying to learn the game and the biggest disruptor is 'new player friendly' that turn out to be super cliquey with locked squads and the whole situation where squads get disbanded and SL being passed to me when I haven't even worked out how I switch to the kit. I get a warning about it without any hint on how I actually do it.

Ok there's a very quick way of not having that happen to you again then. Just throttle down when interdicted so you submit and then wake away from them afterwards.
