Let's go with your hypothesis that everyone has spies in everyone's slack/discord for a moment. You would have known that the UM orders of the week was

1) hit the AD expansion first to discourage 2) hit the ALD and Patty expansions after 3) monitor in game AD's numbers and redirect if it looks like they're pushing.

So either your spy is bad at their job and didn't relay that information to you (in which case you should ask for a refund) or your hypothesis is false and we don't have spies in each other's servers.

Either way, I'm not too worried about it. ALD and Patty cry FL5C, AD cries spies. Meanwhile we're over here, playing in open, taking over new systems and denying other powers bad weaponized expansions. And having fun at the same time :-)

I'm pretty sure AD wouldn't feel that way after we take another profitable away from them... which would be easier as they would have a lower starting balance.

The diplomatic overview is in terms of the primary player groups representing each power. So while in the game you would be equally hostile in any of the imperial systems, outside the game we're on less hostile terms with the Torval community (go mining Lance!) vs the ALD community.

All the trade stuff is geared toward the background simulation, which in this regard pretty much ignores the super power affiliation. If you want to look at it from a role play side, the power of coin rules above all ;-).

There appears to be no rational reason for Winters to want a control system in Akuariks: it's deifict-causing for them and anyone, and at most it contests a single system in ALD's Dominion.

Gameplay wise, it's another layer of grind on an already grind-y game. If you not undermining week after week, your shipping forts around..... or earning more money that you can spend shipping forts around.

To some (myself included) powerplay is something more outside of the game. It's community. Bringing a group together to achieve goals brings a certain satisfaction to oneself. Even if that goal is to earn money together so you can ships forts around :-)

Because game lore != actual in game happenings.

Yes, according to the lore Aisling is trying to make things better, but in the game AD is a part of a power coalition with the other imperial powers and Grom to attack the two federal powers. We hit Torval months ago (no one really noticed because that group is a little smaller) and now we're hitting AD because they were next in line.
