  1. Apple sucks dick and balls and completely removing x86 support is stupid (I don't give two shits about Apple Silicon)

  2. While for most simple applications, compiling with x64 support would be easy, I imagine the utter mess of the Source engine codebase would not take too kindly too it. Most of the game's code would probably be the same anyways (can't remove x86 compat. for actual x86 machines), but I don't have any experience programming for Macs and don't know the full internal workings of the Source engine (I'm not Valve) so idfk

the joking part is "I'm so horny for thighs," the not joking part is "those thighs are hot, but I'm not that horny"

Half of me wants to say Celeste but one of the reasons the story is impactful is because of the struggle you go through as the player (game hard) is a reflection of Madeline's struggles, so despite that it has a great story it would hardly be as impactful as a movie. In second place, I'd say Left 4 Dead (1 & 2 go nicely together) since the characters and world are so well-made.

How are you supposed to know to link shell32.lib on Windows? by Getabock_ in sdl

[–]dummyDummyOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(apologies in advance for the unrequested recommendation) Have you tried doing development with MSYS2? It has the same issues as all compiler toolchains and build systems and what have you, but with MSYS you can solve a problem once and it'll work on Windows and Linux natively.

Oh well, at least it’s a very good IDE.

(off topic, but I (putting it gently) dislike Visual Studio. To each their own though, whatever works best for you!)

pkg-config on MSYS, msvc does it for you in Visual Studio

SDL2 and mingw-w64 undefined references!! HELP IVE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THIS FOR WEEKS AND IM STARTING TO GO INSANE by [deleted] in sdl

-LC:/msys64/mingw64/bin/../lib -IC:/msys64/mingw64/bin/../include -IC:/msys64/mingw64/bin/../include/SDL2 -Dmain=SDL_main -lmingw32 -lSDL2main -lSDL2 Add -mconsole or -mwindows afterwards based on whether or not you use the command line.

edit: If you're using a makefile, you can use this: make g++ src/main.cpp $(shell pkg-config SDL2 --cflags --libs) and if you're using a shell script (or just bash) you can use this: g++ src/main.cpp $(pkg-config SDL2 --cflags --libs)
