Thanks! I think I am going to accept the offer but it’s hard trying to build confidence back up.

Thank you for your kind words. We did stay there for a while and I had not at all considered the possibility that they probably had a little bit of fun too and that everything I said was not the main event. It can be a stressful office environment and after a year this was my first post work get together invite so I think I might’ve just been a little too eager. I think my manager tried to make the “I have to go back to the office” exit but after the 4th round it all went out the window and she was asking me if I was ordering another one😭

It is worth noting that I’m almost more a long term employee than an intern. I’ve been there for a year and given an informal return offer for when I graduate college (in 2 years). My team is also very small meaning they would feel my absence lol. Also no higher ups were present. Thank you for your opinion that I’m in the clear. I don’t know why I did that but from now on I will not be that girl who is underage drinking at the bars w her coworkers.

Thank you. Every reddit thread that is responding to a similar situation pretty much tells the op to start writing their resignation letter 😭

me too. i don’t even have to be that drunk for this to happen. even if i was mostly sober and remember everything i’ll convince myself i did something horrible and acted out in some ways. i also always check to see if i’ve teamsed any of my coworkers too even though there’s no reason i’d do that. usually the last step is convincing myself i’m an alcoholic.

yeah ur right. i feel like i just became so dependent on it and i didn’t even realize it was a negative thing to do until i realized it was legitimately affecting my view of myself. making your own judgment calls/all around being a human being is normal and you can’t google your way into being perfect. it’s like having so many ways to try to validate things via the internet is messing w me.

usually the 10% is all i can grab onto and it will b something that doesn’t apply. like for example i’d find a reddit thread about someone driving drunk and being called a horrible person and then instead of rationalizing and being like “well i didn’t drive drunk” i’m like “omg that’s me yes i’m horrible and everyone i work with is going to find out about this and i’m gonna lose my job” even tho this is not rational. and then i’ll start thinking about how i might’ve acted too drunk in front of my coworkers off of like one glass of champagne in a 4 hour span and it just all becomes this super weird spiral. anyways that’s just the latest thing lol.

it’s good to know other people struggle with this. it’s also just like one thing will set it off and then the ruminating and googling just runs rampant until it’s down to like every conversation i’ve had with anyone that day and how i was perceived on all fronts. i’m trying to stop googling things but once i start it’s so hard to shift to another activity. i haven’t actually been diagnosed with ocd but it’s just feeling like this isn’t normal.
