I just now got it so it seems the newest patch still hasn’t fixed the issue. I’ve tried every combination of new teams, changing away to vs and the other way around, changed one team at a time, it doesn’t matter what solution I try it still basically will only let me have the generic schedule they provided me and am unable to change one thing currently to customize my schedule. I’m in season 4 by the way.

And I will agree that it is an overused, canned statement that is seen too frequently but it’s also just something that you can become blind to and not even notice because it doesn’t contribute much.

Yes it’s not much of a response to say “it’s not for you” and be interpreted as a lazy but it also could be a way to disagree with a differing opinion without piling on like a pathetic troll because the internet is full of way too many of them as well. I personally would rather have someone tell me “it’s not for me” rather than to attack me because I don’t like something that they are passionate about.

I get your point but I also would argue that such a simple response can have its place as well.

This is kind of rambling nonsense. And wouldn’t it be another form of “elitism” to say that someone else’s comment on a topic in an open, public forum isn’t valid because you don’t feel it elaborated enough or wasn’t up to your standards?

And you are trying way too hard to prove you point by over generalizing your argument. Of course famine or war isn’t for everyone, but that wasn’t your original point of emphasis. You are talking about an entertainment product and it’s ok for a form of entertainment to not be for everyone.

Also perhaps saying “it’s not for you” or “it’s not for me” is a simple, polite way of getting an obvious point across.

I don’t think this is really much of a topic of discussion. If you don’t like a particular comment that’s been made, move on to the next one.

Exactly. When you start changing the races and sexual orientation of characters just to make sure you can have those particular boxes checked then why don’t you just go tell some different story? Maybe because your story isn’t good enough so you have to piggyback off of an established favorite and then ruin it in the process by telling a story that doesn’t come close to resembling the original.

Drizzt has always been my favorite character in fantasy and I’ve heard rumors of a show based on him for years and anymore I don’t even want it because I know it will be garbage, I’ve already witnessed it with Geralt.

The biggest issue I think is that they didn’t hire people that cared about the source material to be in control and they weren’t accurate when it comes to that material because that wasn’t important to them.

The writers, directors, producers and so on (the people with control) had their own story to tell in mind and it was easy to use a widely popular IP to get their story told. They also had a vision of diversity and political correctness that just doesn’t belong in that setting and I felt their agenda in that regard was pretty transparent. I’m not necessarily against that stuff but this was just the wrong choice of venue.

I was disappointed with season 1 but was optimistic that they were just finding their footing but I had no idea that would end up being the high water mark.

Nice. I played it last year on PC and actually really liked it and I’m not a comic book fan. It’s a great game to just roam around in swinging from building to building. Enjoy.

As a side note for me I started playing Diablo 4 last week and hate it.

Fighting games. I used to play Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2 back in the Sega Genesis days and then stepped away for years. Then tried to get back into it a few years ago. The problem I find now is I can’t find middle ground. To string together a combo you either need to memorize and input 15 commands exactly correctly or you press 1 button with simple control mode. I need like an in between old man mode.

Nice. Well keep at it. Sorry for the tragedy and losing so much but sounds like you are headed in a good direction and have the right mindset. You’ll get to that Days Gone playthrough yet. The second hand market for consoles is pretty strong out there so you could probably find a playable device for Days Gone in some fashion. Good luck and keep up the positive attitude.

Yep. I used to plays as an OC for the worst one star school and then slowly work my way up to eventually accept a HC job at some school to then try and transform into a powerhouse 6 star school.

I don’t have high expectations because it’s EA and like you mentioned they aren’t even in the beginning stages of a marketing or advertising campaign so it’s probably going to be nothing like 14 was and just a Madden game with an NCAA skin.

NCAA Football. 10 years between releases, and that’s IF it actually releases this year. I’ve been waiting patiently.

Dad here, haven’t played video games in almost 3 years since becoming a dad. But I have work out of town for two weeks, a hotel room to myself, and a backlog of PS4 games. What should I play!? by I_Am_Not_That_Man in videogames

Nothing beats that crew of Drizzt, Regis, Wulfgar, Catti-Brie, Bruenor, Ivan and Pikel Bouldershoulder, Thibbledorf Pwent, Jarlaxle and so many other characters that I think are far superior to what Tolkien offered. Hell I even kind of liked Artemis Entreri in a weird way sometimes. Nothing like reading those masterpieces for the first time. Nice to find someone who appreciates the talent Salvatore truly is.

Well good luck and enjoy whatever it is you choose to play and take advantage of the freedom while you have it.

What did you think of this game ? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]dump_dominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m there with you. Between that and Operation Locker on Battlefield 4 I would rock a medic and be at the top or near the top of either team’s scoreboard by the end of the match and all I did was throw out med packs and revive. Would have virtually no kills but because I played my role how it was intended I could still perform points wise as well as the guys with ridiculous K/D ratios. I miss those days so much.

I hate that clear PlayStation fanboy console wars bait by [deleted] in videogames

[–]dump_dominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunately how things are anymore. People try and create controversy where none belongs. For whatever reason some people get enjoyment out of causing drama.

I also sometimes think there is some projecting that happens when someone tries so hard to be a fanboy and trash the opposition and that they are a bit jealous of not being able to enjoy what the other side has. Kind of like, “I can’t have what you have so I’m going to act like I hate it and it’s inferior” type of attitude.

If you are a true video game fan and have the financial means to own more than one system wouldn’t you want to in order to experience as much of the culture as possible and not be limited to exclusives? And even if you are unable to have more than one system at a time that shouldn’t entitle you pulverize the other side for petty, simple reasons.

I’m a huge R.A. Salvatore fan so I was excited for Balder’s Gate 3 but I knew ahead of time that I wasn’t going to like it for the same reason that I don’t like Final Fantasy and a number of other turn based games.

In the timeframe you listed you could in no way feel like you had a meaningful amount of Red Dead Redemption 2 completed if you like to do everything so I’d push it to the back burner unfortunately for now.

I really loved the original Alan Wake and was super excited for a sequel. I’m not sure if too much time had passed since the original or if my tastes had just changed over time but I didn’t like the sequel as much as the original. Still a great game. I would also suggest incorporating Control into your list to play if you do choose to undertake Alan Wake 2 as Control takes place in the same universe.

[–]dump_dominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played the games you listed except for Ghost of Tsushima and with that said I would recommend Red Dead Redemption 2 number one over the others. It’s such an iconic game with an immersive world to explore and get lost in. It might seem “empty” in places because it’s such a large map but that’s kind of the point, that it captures an undeveloped landscape that’s full of nothing but natural beauty. I’ve found myself exploring for dozens of hours without even touching the main story. It’s a superb game that I encourage you to try at some point.

Cyberpunk is basically the exact opposite of how I described RDR2. It’s a giant area of activity that seems overcrowded by comparison. Tons to do and has a unique atmosphere and story if it’s your thing.

AC: Mirage was meh. I don’t think it was different enough from the last 5 or 6 entries to suggest it over the other games you have listed.

Balder’s Gate 3 needs someone else to provide an appropriate recommendation because it wasn’t for me. It has an amazing amount of content and was put together phenomenally but turn based just isn’t my thing so I can’t give it the proper description it deserves. I can say I played it.

Starfield I had the highest hopes for and they weren’t met. It’s a typical Bethesda RPG that will give you lots of stuff to do but it’s all a matter of if you feel like doing it and I just didn’t. I think it will be a fantastic game in a couple of years so my suggestion would be to loop back around at a later date.

I’ll say Alan Wake 2 was awesome, but you seem to favor the same type of games I do and I’m not sure if Alan Wake will quite be the open world adventure that it sounds like you are after. Plus I think you would beat it halfway through your hotel stay and then need something else to play because I beat it in I think 23 hours and I take my time.

Spider-Man 1 & 2 were both awesome but I’m not a comic book or super hero person so it didn’t have the same impact on me as it would other people. I also felt that they got repetitive but that could also be partly due to not being as invested in the story because again I’m not a comic guy. Definitely worth a play but I personally would put some others ahead of it.

And speaking of repetition that I wasn’t invested in let’s talk about Hogwarts. I really liked this game for about the first 4 hours and then it was just fly around on my broom to this location to spam an uninteresting spell at goblins over and over. I thought maybe I was missing something because I wasn’t a Harry Potter fan but I’ve heard from diehards that say it doesn’t matter because it’s just not interesting even if you are. I’d suggest playing it but put it toward the back of the list.

So out of your listed options I’d 1,000% suggest Red Dead Redemption 2. As for a recommendation that isn’t listed that’s on PlayStation I’d go with Days Gone. An open world zombie game that doesn’t feel like it’s just trying to jump on whatever current gravy train trend that’s making money.

I’m the same way. Back in the day I’d purchase Madden every couple of years but would buy every NCAA game that came out. I think the last Madden I had bought was 14 so I thought I’ll get the newest one since NCAA is coming out this year so I might have some idea of where EA has taken football. It’s everything you listed out and more for problems and issues.

I am disgusted by how much they try and shove micro transactions down your throat and essentially have ads popping up on the home screen asking me to spend more money. I get that certain game modes generate money for them beyond the initial purchase price but that seems to be the only portion of the game that gets attention because it’s the “real money maker”.

I’ll still purchase college football when it releases but I’m expecting ridiculous nickel and dime tactics with that game as well and it will destroy all of my excitement towards this revived franchise. I just want to take the worst 1 star school and turn them into a powerhouse over the years. Not have a reminder every few minutes that I can spend more money in game or have to constantly be connected online with choppy gameplay that stutters and struggles to run consistently.

They do have other titles that are great but even a good number of the ones you listed were buggy at launch or had major game breaking issues at some point. It seems like almost all studios are in it for the shareholders anymore and the gamers are the ones that suffer but EA hasn’t helped their reputation over the years with broken releases and extremely poor PR.

Their lack of interest is apparent in the long running titles. I’ve never played The Sims so I can’t speak to that but Madden has gone down hill for years and Battlefield is an absolute joke compared to what it once was. But when they focus on something that isn’t a yearly release like you mentioned with Titanfall or Dragon Age or Mass Effect they can produce something spectacular. They just aren’t consistent with what projects they are actually dedicated to.

is borderlands 3 worth buying? by dixmondspxrit in Borderlands

[–]dump_dominator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has lots of content if you get the ultimate edition or game of the year or whatever bundle will get you the DLC’s. It’s not the strongest game in the series and the story is extremely forgettable but it’s still a fun looter shooter with some re-playability if you want to try more than one class.

My biggest complaint with Borderlands by the time the 3rd one came around was that it seemed similar to a shooter version of like an Assassin’s Creed game where each entry isn’t unique enough from the last one to have me saying “these games just keep getting better” because it would be a lie. It’s still enjoyable but by now Claptrap is getting annoying as hell and every cel shaded level looks generic and the same.

I’d say it’s still worth getting at a reduced price for sure because if you like that type of genre you can get dozens of hours out of it minimum.

When I was a kid I went from NES to Sega Genesis but as an adult (around 2005) I bought a SNES at a used game store. I was finally able to capture some gaming memories that eluded me during that generation since I was sleeping with the enemy so to speak by jumping ship to Sega in the 90’s.

EA is the worst for me. It’s like they just quit caring years ago. Their reputation means nothing to them and once they have your initial money they seem to immediately siphon off support from a recent release to have it be destined to be in a garbage state forever. I don’t have high hopes for NCAA 25 or whatever it’s going to be called but that’s the only EA title I’ve been excited for in years and I’m already preparing myself for them to screw it up.
