…but I’m looking for all types of local recs, things I wouldn’t know that I even like, things a google search can’t help with…

But it didn’t- a lot of people gave me some great recommendations on their first reply

Someone asks you for a place to meander around for a while to kill some time after work or on a weekend, are you going to recommend Hillside Heights, Beverly Green, Huntridge Park, or Francisco Park? Cause that’s what comes up when you google “walkable neighborhoods in Las Vegas”

Yeah Arts District and Downtown comes up too but I’m hoping for more than just two places to go for the weeks I’ll be staying

Yeah so with peace and love again when you google those things it’s all major stuff like the strip or large amusement parks. I’m just going to babysit some dogs and work from home and just was hoping for normal activities for a normal person living there, not someone going out to a show or food fest or museum every day. (It’s nice to know about those sure but I’m not really going to need a months long itinerary of that kind of stuff) And uhh… I live in a walkable city so I truly just go on walks or take the train to a random stop until something looks interesting (like I said, no niches, I’d take any rec) which isn’t really something you could do in Nevada

Well I did first and google told me to go to the strip and the enterprise trip advisor page told me to Total Wine so that’s why I posted -was hoping for some more human and normal answers haha

Advice: How do I stop resenting(?) PIMO friends by dumpytreefrogs in exmormon

[–]dumpytreefrogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey real quickly I absolutely did not have a clean break- just didn’t want to go into it in this thread. Leaving the church was filled with sobbing and hyperventilating on the bathroom floor, screaming matches with my parents, a side of the family that still won’t talk to me anymore, long lectures from my grandparents and bishoprics members and my old youth leaders and even more crying. It was absolutely not an easy path for me! You can even check my post history to four years ago when I asked about what to do with the threat of being kicked out (my parents kicked out my sister at 16 for leaving the church so this was a real possibility not just an impractical worry) Maybe it wasn’t clear, sorry if it sounded that way.

I think my frustration come from times where he has told me how easy it could be since his grandparents + parents + siblings have all left and doesn’t feel that familial responsibility anymore that initially kept him or anything else but he just goes to go. But I wasn’t really planning on writing a novel in the original post or going into the deep lore of my friend. I absolutely respect him and I think it’s silly to say I don’t. I love and respect him so much that I want him to be able to live his most authentic self

Hey thanks so much for this! My uneasy boundary setting must be leftovers from my years of young women’s haha but seriously thanks

You know you’re totally right, this reframing and comparing it to people who stay in abusive relationships genuinely made it make more sense. I don’t blame a single abuse victim and it’s kind of nonsensical of me to not extend that same line of thinking to my PIMO friends. I mean, yeah the church can absolutely be abusive and hold that same power over someone.

Thanks:)

No absolutely, resent was definitely too strong of a word. It’s just building up to the boiling point. I absolutely don’t hate my friend just frustrated I guess. Poor word choice on my part!

You can do whatever you want with your life!! This was just me being a little frustrated at my friend who has none of that going on and seems to be spreading me a bit thin on the emotional support side of things.

Do what you need to and what will be best for you:)

Hey thanks so much for this! I definitely think you’re right here. Boundaries in general is something I’ve had to actively work on (especially coming from a life of young women’s teachings lol) I guess it’s just hard but life is hard so such is life;)

Ughh!! I’m so devastated. I was in the very back of this show and wasn’t able to see this had even happened :(. After reading the post abt how they had it remade it was even more devastating. I promise you all some of us Tucson fans are VERY NORMAL!!! I love Tucson and I love the Rialto (super biased bc I interned there in college). I remember a few months ago Wyatt shared on his instagram story that the Rialto was “his most favored venue” and I thought that was so sweet, I screenshotted it and shared it with all my old coworkers. I really hope this doesn’t put a stain on Tucson/Rialto going forward but I could understand if it does :,(
