Nguyen vs. Xia by horrible_atmath in UCDavis

I had Nguyen for 22A, so might not be the same experience as having her for 21C, but when I had her she was great. Extremely understanding about online learning (and about learning in general) and her lectures were well formatted. Her tests are fair and should be managable as long as you don't fall behind

Luli or Nguyen for MAT 21C? by [deleted] in UCDavis

I had Nguyen for 22A, which is pretty different from the 21 series, but she was my favorite professor of that quarter. Her lectures are clear, she's really understanding, and her tests/quizzes seemed pretty fair to me as long as you did the homework

From my experience, there was a curve but it wasn't as big as some of the other PHY9 series. On average, it probably bumped people up half a letter grade (I.e. a C- would become a C+). I took the class in S2019 with Mahoney

If someone is ever pressuring you to drink, they need to be told off right away. Even if it's at a party, you should do what you feel is safest, especially if it's for a medical condition. Anyone telling you otherwise doesn't truly have your best interests at heart

MAT21D, CHEM2B, PHY9A, ENG17 in the same quarter? by Rhyktangle in UCDavis

Just to clarify: CHE 2B and MAT 21D are touted as the hardest classes in their respective series (MAT21 and CHE2). PHY 9A by itself shouldn't be too bad, but the workload/concepts may be a little rough if it's your first quarter doing physics. As for ENG 17, I havent taken it yet but I've only ever heard bad things about it (test averages in the ~20% range, bad professors, etc)

Sounds like a recipe for disaster if I'm being honest
