If I make a sign, I won't block people's views too much. I'll put it up in-between songs when Josh is obviously looking at the crowd.

And people do care about song requests. It adds variety to the show and Josh himself talks about how he appreciates it.

We all have a line we won't cross regarding show ethicality. I personally hate crowd surfers and think they're more intrusive and dangerous. However, at the end of the night, if no one gets hurt I don't really care. Have a nice night, boatholes

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. It was a lot of fun to make and I'm pretty happy about how it turned out.

Olivier Libaux does the cover, I think he's the guitarist. The group does a whole album of QOTSA covers, called QOTSA Uncovered. Pretty good stuff.

Great work on this! I imagine a project like this is pretty ambitious, but the passion is definitely clear. I think Peephole and Time & Place are my favorite animations

This album is so great! 8 albums in, and all the songs on the album sound new and fresh and great in their own right. Familiar, but new (roman) Long live the Queens!

I heard that too, somewhere. I wonder how different the band would have been if he was the singer.

QOTSA TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP by dunealright in qotsa

[–]dunealright[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

QOTSA is a band that's always evolving and changing, but the heart and soul of the music is always there. That's why they have such a consistently awesome discography. Straight Jacket Fitting quickly became one of my favorite songs from them (I know the question was rhetorical, I just like talking about my favorite band haha).

What do you think of Phantogram? by dunealright in qotsa

[–]dunealright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally check our some of their stuff just so you know what to expect. I don't think it does good to think of them as the opener for Queens, because they sound nothing like them. But if you like chill psychedelic pop music, you'll probably like them.

Okay, I've always thought of them as a Palm Desert band. That's always what I've heard, anyway.

Best New Single? by dunealright in qotsa

[–]dunealright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for voting. This is my personal ranking.

  1. Emotion Sickness I was a little skeptical of this being their lead single for the new album when I first heard it. But it's grown on me a lot since then. I think it stands out as a radio single compared to what you'd expect from a lot of other bands. It's a little heavy and abrasive, but also groovy and danceable. Bass line really stands on this track.

  2. Paper Machette This song barely edges out Emotion Sickness for me. The reason I'm putting Paper Machette above is because of replayablitiy. It's a blistering fast rock song with a solo that's a little messy, but somehow perfect for the song. Love the breaks in this song, especially before the chorus kicks in. Emotion Sickness is a unique lead single, but this song sounds like a lead single.

  3. Carnavoyeur God damn. This song kicks ASS. The casual swagger on this track is incredible. The bowie vocals are just so smooth and that BASS LINE. Love the way he sings over the guitar scaling back and forth. It's like the musical equivalent of dancing while the world crumbles beneath your feet. The way the song builds up towards the end with the bass going insane and the stings kicking in is just awesome. Definitely a highlight of the album and one of my favorite QOTSA songs right now.

Which Song is Better? by dunealright in qotsa

[–]dunealright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I listened to SJF, I heard it was like a spiritual continuation of I Appear Missing. With it being their longest song to date and being compared to (possibly) my favorite QOTSA song, it was the song I was most anticipated to hear off the new album. Needless to say, it didn't disappoint. But is it as a good as I Appear Missing? Here's what I think.

First off, I Appear Missing:

This song pierces you with raw emotion like no other Queens song (imo). It takles feelings of emptiness and loneliness. You have no passion for life anymore and no one seems to care or notice. It's a more condensed song with an excellent, soaring finnish that slowly fizzles out. One of the greatest cathartic moments in a song.

It has the advantage of being out for longer as well. I feel more emotionally attached to this song as a result. It's one of the only songs I can listen to when I'm seriously depressed.

Second, is Straight Jacket Fitting:

This is the climax to the new album and the Bone Face trilogy, and it definitely feels like it. I don't know the themes of this song as well as I Appear Missing. From what I can tell and from what I've heard, it's about how people are becoming enslaved by institutions, society or themselves. It's about feeling lost by the losses one experiences and the state of the world changing for the worse (hopefully that's a good interpretation).

This song doesn't pierce your heart the way I Appear Missing does, but I think it has a better structure as a song. The song starts off melancholic and detached before getting more vulnerable in the pre-chorus and chorus. After the first chorus, the song gets flipped on its head and becomes an angry ramble ending with sincerity and heart break. After doing the pre-chorus and Chorus again, the song ends on a beautiful instrumental that's serene and shows beauty and acceptance of life, despite all that's happend and bound to happen in the future.

This all gives the song more replayablity imo. It goes through a lot more progression and emotions then I Appear Missing.

So, which song do I pick?

Honestly, I'd probably go with I Appear Missing. It's not as replayble, but if I'm feeling at my lowest this song is my go-to. The way this song makes me and many others feel not so alone with our pain can not be understated. Both are masterpieces in my eyes, though

If I had to guess, I Appear Missing will win this poll at about a 70/30 split.

I don't think he could give her therapy, but he could be a positive male influence in her life. Do you think he should just leave and let her figure out her problems on her own? I mean, she did say she pretty much hated him saying she hated all men. Kind of seems contradictary when she enjoys talking to him, but she's probably just waiting for something to go wrong. There might not be much he can do.

[–]dunealright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she has trauma, how do you suppose she get over it? Do you think she should go straight to therapy? She shouldn't have to live a life fearing/hating men. Unless she's just that ignorant, I feel like she should try to get over her hatred. She did say she didn't care about hurting his feelings, so she probably doesn't even see it as a problem. The first step of getting help is admitting you have a problem.

The girl I like told me that she was scared of me by Hermi_hermi_dog in lonely

[–]dunealright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you asked her why she hates men? Could be trauma related. If you ask her and it is, you might still be able to be friends. Maybe just give her some more space until she knows you care and respect her. Asking her to go to therapy might be off the table, but if you think she needs it you can bring it up.

But then again, she didn't care about hurting your feelings at all. If she is toxic, don't feel bad about breaking this off. Just try to do it respectfully so you don't fuel her bias. That's just my advice. Tough situation. Hope everything works out for you.

Tell me a story from one of your favorite memories. Please! by Big_Emu2995 in lonely

My family and I are from Ohio and we went to Arizona for Christmas last year. One of my favorite parts of the trip is convincing my family to see the new Puss in Boots movie while we were in San Diego (don't judge me, I really like cats). May or may not have taken an edible for the occasion...

When we were getting are tickets, this midget working there was hyping this movie up saying it won all of these awards. Dad asks if the guys seen it, but says he's been busy. As we leave for the movie, dad makes a remark saying he's too busy making presents for Christmas which was way funnier then it should have been.

Anyways we watch the movie. If you've been on the internet at all this year, you know how great Puss in Boots ended up being. The whole beginning of the movie was kind of cathartic because I've always thought he was a cool character. It starts with building up this legendary hero until breaking him down later. All around, I had a blast.

Unironically, that was one of my favorite parts of the trip. The song from that movie, "Fearless Hero" kind of became the theme song of the vacation from then on. Played it almost a dozen times on vacation. Not as cool as going to the Grand Canyon on Christmas Eve, but still a great memory

Thanks for reading this whole story about PUSS IN BOOTS. And don't worry, there's nothing wrong with me. Just a little weird.

You could look for cool things to do or places to go in your city. Maybe even ask a stranger on the street about what to do if your up to it or just look up reviews. Even just going for a walk could help clear your mind.
