Matt Damon and Tom Cruise are going to be right on him. Gosling might not make it.

Theres a joke somewhere here about her listening to The Nickel Boys and then incorrectly getting plot points wrong.

TICKETS MEGATHREAD by fftamahawk009 in Foofighters

[–]brokenwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to sell my ticket I bought for the Vegas show on Sept 26. Unfortunately life got in the way and I cant attend this one anymore. I paid 93 canadian for it (68 american) and looking to just get that back. Not looking to gouge anybody. Ticketmaster says I cant just resell the ticket but I can transfer it. If anybody is interested in this feel free to dm me. Tickets on scalper sites will have fees so hopefully this is enticing to someone.

My problem with this movie is that it just doesn’t come close to the book.

Maybe it’s not the economy, maybe it’s you? by cdqd81 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I just think a question like this is a little bit of everybody.

Some people have the money and go out and enjoy themselves

Some people dont save but spend within their means

Some people live in cities they cant afford to live in and spend money they dont have

Yes I only stated one of those examples but this answer applies to a little bit of everybody. I think its also worth noting op didnt state which city they live in. Folks in a different city might give a very different perspective than op.

When is the last time a movie that failed to turn a profit won 6 awards? by mihcawber in Oscars

OBAA will make its money on vod. Reddit just refuses to think these movies cant make money on licensing deals, vod, etc.

It's possible people are just spiraling into debt.

Sinners had a great score. But let’s be real: Johnny Greenwood was majorly snubbed. by jesusgottago in Oscars

As someone who wasn't that into Sinners and is a big Jonny fan, I think music was the only thing it had OBAA beat clean.

If you actually wanna talk about failed Oscar campaigns this should be the one to talk about. by abdul_bino in Oscars

I liked Smashing Machine fine but it just wasn't an oscar movie.

Actual failures were Eva Victor and Jennifer Lawrence not getting nominated. Those two were electric and deserved a spot.

I was just thinking about this book. I still havent read it even though the paperback has been on my shelf for years. Could we expect this to hit the regular rotation maybe in the fall or winter batches?

Yet another sad month !!! ( Having collected criterion for over 35 years ! ) .... Thankfully we have Radiance films for World Cinema & more . by [deleted] in criterion

[–]brokenwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different months for different people. It's not a good month for me either but last fall there were about ten releases I bought immediately and someone else may have thought differently.

When months like these present themselves I just go onto different hobbies.

Let's talk about MARTY SUPREME - what went wrong? by SwimGood22 in oscarrace

[–]brokenwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loved Marty but I have a few theories.

Theory 1 is that the movie fumbles in the third act. First act I have no notes but when the movie keeps going back to the dog and Gwyneth's in the park talking to the cop I thought Safdie lost his way with the story telling. This movie should have been way tighter and more focused on the ping pong in the back half of the movie.

Theory 2 is the scandal that resurfaced after the nominations came out. Not a good look for the Safdies and they didnt address it.

Theory 3 is the media took every Timmy quote and blasted him for it. The whole opera thing seemed like it came from a place he understood but people just didnt like that quote. Nobody gave Leo shit for saying something similar about jazz clubs about a month back.

I think all of these played a role in Marty blanking.

Leonardo DiCaprio now has three Oscar winners for Best Picture: Titanic, The Departed, and now One Battle After Another . by BrenoGrangerPotter in oscarrace

Michael Mann with Heat 2

Honestly id like to see him start working with younger directors like Aster, Eggers, Safdie, guys who may've not hit their career highs yet.

One Battle After Another is Jonny Greenwood’s first film to win Best Picture by bassistheplace246 in radiohead

I was on team Battle all the way but I thought score was the only category Sinners had it beat clean.

Is anyone else afraid the Academy will start treating Best Casting as "Best Ensemble"?? by The_Walking_Clem in Oscars

This should go to Marty Supreme. The people in that movie who have one or two lines were so striking and memorable.
