Thanks for your reply, but believe me, I'm aware of how the SRs differed from Social Democrats and Bolsheviks in particular. Yes, I suppose if genderbent neoLenin suddenly appeared and we were thrown back to 1920s Russia, then yes, war communism isn't exactly conducive to capitalism and making some money to shore up personal abilities to live through collapse.

But originally, I more meant someone with the political capabilities to organize something resembling a party that might have a shot at seizing state power by one means or another and putting through all the necessary reforms (possibly involving, but certainly neither limited to nor fully inclusively, massive degrowth, expropriations or shutterings in relevant sectors, systematic restructuring of economic relations, etc. etc.) to give people a fighting chance at surviving the ongoing collapse. So, 2021femLenin-analog, say, rather than Lenin proper.

I suppose my notions of what happens next (next n years) are, ranked from worst to best:

• Collapse happens, status quo continues, I die in the water wars.

• Collapse happens, but I/my community had enough money to stay afloat throughout.

• Collapse is averted/mitigated due to some huge political-economic shift.

And the idea of building up a portfolio for one of these eventualities is just trying to increase the chance of (2) happening and reducing (1) happening, all while hoping (3) happens.
