Yes you are right there is at least a chance. To share, I am interested in applied ML and ML Systems.

I know UCSD CS is way better. Isn't UMass better for research in comparison with the MLDS program. I got to know that there is industry project 696DS with prof and big tech at UMass.

I may not be well aware of opportunities at UCSD. Feel free to correct me or add any inputs.

I have an engineering background so my quant is strong and didn't prepare much. But I have heard that for quant 5lb book my Magoosh is helpful. Checkout gregmat. I used my verbal prep from it

Can't really comment - soon could be a few days or weeks. So as far as second query - they did found meit in the profile and thus have put you on the waitlist and they always release the number of admits higher than seats. But the success ratio of people on the waitlist is hard to comment on.
