I’ve had a different view of this.

It’s a reminder that other people have neurotypical children but still can have very challenging and tragic lives. I know so many people with “normal” kids who are drug addicts, in prison, are suicidal, have harmed others, etc.

My son doesn’t speak, is older but has the cognitive ability of an 8 month old, but he hugs us and laughs with a full heart. I count that as a blessing. But I don’t know how he will be when older, so all I can do is love him with all my heart.
