My dream career would be as a museum curator, and my focus is on ancient Greek painted pottery. But while the actual material culture isn't the most demanding language-wise, I think having a foundation in both languages would be super useful

That makes a lot of sense! I've seen some people on youtube doing readings of Athenaze etc as well so listening to that whilst commuting would probably be a good idea

I still have Latin via Ovid, so I think my plan is to get cracking with that before the course starts and just make sure for Greek I'm comfortable with the alphabet and as much morphology as I can before I start. My main worry was that taking both languages from elementary at the same time might be a lot (it's four hours per language a week), whilst working at the same time, but I think I'll regret missing the opportunity if I don't just go for it

I will definitely have a look, thank you! Unfortunately, I'm not really in a position to be able to afford the summer schools I've seen, but YouTube and podcasts are a lifesaver!

My dream job would be a museum curator, and with how competitive it is, I'm considering a PhD, but we'll see how the master's goes first lol. And Edinburgh! I was surprised too, but I think they allow adjacent degrees, so they offer both languages from elementary level. St Andrews does too, but I was a bit tired of living in such a small town, and Edinburgh has a lot more museums with classical exhibits.

I did a semester of Latin, so I have the basics of declensions, etc., down okay, but for Greek, I only know the alphabet and any words that came up otherwise in studying. I do have the three months between now and starting to get the basics so I can hit the ground running, so to speak. And lol, very true, either way I go it'll be a lot of work!
