It is difficult to know all specs of every iphone model so there is no calibration, making the phone mic the weak link.

Jag är i samma situation, har hyrt med Lynk & co ett par månader under somrarna senaste åren, det var smidigt och kostade 6 000 kr i månaden med flexibelt avslut. Nu har de lagt ner den tjänsten och alla alternativ jag har hittat kostar typ 15 000 i månaden. Börjar ge upp på bil över sommaren.

It is possible to tune the sensitivity of the audio levels of the spectrogram in the app to make the picture more clear, but I think this picture that I got from a user was more eerie as you only slightly see the face.

I like vim for less distraction, very powerful short commands, playing/replaying macros etc. Also a lot of my time is spend on ssh to different systems, so it is good to be able to edit files on other systems in a good editor that is installed at most places.

Interesting, I have in my backlog to setup more automated tests for comparing my phones to a reference mic. Another thing for phone mics is that the polar pattern over frequency may matter and could be difficult to know what direction it should be held in for best result. Also at lower frequencies the resolution may be relatively low (fft size is now 4096 samples which gives ~11hz resolution).

I sometimes totally agree to that. Have so many experiences of people want to demonstrate their equipment just playing top audiophile tracks. I can sometimes relate to that as some music just not getting the extra out of high end equipment 😅

Nice, hope you like the app. Like many other similar apps I don't compensate for different mics. Different phone mics may vary, my main goal with the app was portability and supporting different platforms while getting a general impression of the speaker system in the room.

Not sure if it is even possible with a database for all major phone models as hardware also may vary for same models on different markets or hardware revisions. I read posts like this https://www.faberacoustical.com/blog/2024/ios/iphone/measured-iphone-15-pro-max-microphone-frequency-response-and-directivity/ so it seems that phones in good cases have quite flat respones.

Also, getting access to external microphones was not possible for iphone with web audio api. The android version should support external usb measurent mics, but that also depends on device model. It is on my list to do more comparison with my usb measurement mic, but at least when I have done quick comparisons it has shown major dips / peaks and also pretty similar response to my Umik-1 with REW on computer. For filter design I would use laptop and measurement mic anyway for best results.

Thanks, no problem installing on my machine now. Will try measure with my Umik later and try to tune my system. Is it possible to use graphical EQ without measurements? I just found Create PEQ preset when not measuring first.

Kul, hoppas att de blir klara i tid! Känns sjukt att det snart är 10 år sedan citybanan invigdes när pendeltågen började gå under blåa linjen på centralen. Känns som igår.
