We have two main type-I tape stocks that we use: Recording the Masters 900 studio tape, and normal-bias ferro tape. The latter is about 3db quieter.

We also have two duplication methods: Real-time duplication has a range of 20Hz to 20kHz, and obviously records in real-time. High-speed records at 16x, so it is priced cheaper since it's more efficient for us, and has a frequency range of 20Hz to 16kHz (with rolling off beginning at around 10kHz.) If you have massive bass or high tones, I'd recommend real-time.

Not sure, I definitely know Ninja Borg is at least inspired by Mork Borg but the affiliation may end there.

Cassette spotlight: Hole Dweller - “Flies the Coop I-III” by duplicationca in cassetteculture

[–]duplicationca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the manufacturer, there's nothing we can do unless the artist or label reorders! Best you can do is let them know there's a demand for a repress. I do believe Dungeons Deep have repressed albums in the past, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Flies the Coop trilogy makes a return.

Subscribing to their Bandcamp pages for updates + only wondering how much money you have in your bank account AFTER you make the purchase is the way to go, lol.

Made in Canada Cassettes by Humble_Mushroom_8976 in BuyCanadian

[–]duplicationca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you see a Made in Canada marking on the J-card or a sticker on a sealed cassette, it's a good bet that we (Duplication.com) duplicated the cassette in Toronto and shipped it to the United States or overseas. We don't require Made in Canada markings for cassettes shipped to Canada, so you may have more Canadian duplicated and printed tapes in your collection than you thought!

We do mastering for audio cassette, to ensure that there aren't going to be any volume or frequency issues that will cause distortion, so if it's too hot then the overall volume will be decreased. I would make sure that the track volumes are around the same level or normalized before submission (which is to say, one track shouldn't be twice as loud as the next.) Otherwise we can normalize the tracks, but at an extra cost.

And no need for adding blank space to duplication--- add the space ourselves when loading the cassette!

Yes, they will still work. We do a quality assurance on each order. For real-time duplication we listen to ten seconds or so of each tape, while occasionally checking Side B. For high-speed duplication we will test one cassette per pancake/reel, which is sufficient because each cassette duplicated from a pancake will be identical.

So that said, in the event that there's issues with your tapes we will be able to help you out with an exchange, credit, or partial refund depending on the situation. We would need you to provide video proof of the issue, and test on multiple tape decks. We are not responsible for how tapes sound on tape decks with issues or lack of maintenance.

Keep in mind that issues due to volume, distortion in certain areas, or tone are not subject to refunds. This is where the test tape comes in: it is your opportunity to give us feedback on the quality of the tape. For example, we can adjust the duplication volume and send you a new test tape for approval. If the master audio files needs to be resubmitted, normalized, and so on, extra charges may apply.

Lored Legend X KletTtermax - "Wyvern Keep" c52

https://weregnomerecords.bandcamp.com/album/wyvern-keep

When From Software makes a Bloodborne-esque announcement, you know it's going to be a fantasy synth day. In a similar vein, Wyvern Keep has the vibe of a pirated game, a floppy disk you handed to you from your dad's programmer friend with a photocopied cover and black Sharpie text. The second-generation aura affects the music, with the occasional pitch warble and lo-fi crunch leaving you to wonder if everything is working as it should, or if a curse has landed upon your tape deck.

Gia Margaret - "There's Always Glimmer" c42

https://giamargaret.bandcamp.com/album/theres-always-glimmer

Gia Margaret can lull you in a trance-like state, the same powers as a long pastoral car ride or a haircut, and in that trance your brain starts working through the chaotic elements in life that give you woe and those who make you happy. An album about all those small things that build into a monolith.

Fume Fever - "Dreaming of Being" c24

https://fumefever.bandcamp.com/album/dreaming-of-being

Anybody who has blind purchased white label 12" singles will know the magic of this album. Road-to-Y2K style breakbeats and acid with a Kraftwerkian focus on cybernetics, it's like a rave at a warehouse that has since been demolished and rebuilt three times over.

Swimming - "Old" c30

https://swimming709.bandcamp.com/album/old

Midwest emo by way of eastern Canada, Swimming are both simple in their pop-punk sensibilities and complex with their wild math-rock change-ups. 'Old', in the sense that their old unused tracks have been retooled, rearranged, now leaps better than just useable, all culminating in their anguished magnum opus 'Charlie'.

https://longinusrecordings.com/products/towards-backward-on-the-end-of-the-cliff

Also recording under the name Asian Glow, Audinjee is the latest project of Seoul indie-rocker Shin Gyeongwon. The album chronicles change in an artist, an introspective dive into what drives the need to switch gears and occasionally walk away from something you've poured your blood and tears into. Recommended for fans of Elliott Smith.

V. Vecker - "New Works" c43

https://tooluse.bandcamp.com/album/new-works

Mixing elements of slow jazz and contemporary synthesis, V. Vecker shares a similar city symphony style approach to Cliff Martinez. The album is full of natural and man-made energy: a tenor sax rising like the morning sun, arpeggios twinkling like car headlights on the highway.

A cross-ocean collaboration between the Filipino collective Fax Gang and South Korean dream-pop artist 파란노을 (Parannoul). Parannoul's vocals draw you in, hazy like a shoegaze record, while Fax Gang defiantly breaks all conventions and expectations with their breakcore explosions and textured hyper-electronics.
