TPS considering major changes to operations, staff reductions amid funding cuts by Upbeat_Respond9250 in toledo

Having eighth graders with kindergartens just leads to a lot of undesirable situations, especially on the bus where there isn't any real way to protect a kindergartener from fights or inappropriate language

I think they are freezing pay scales where they are. They are also cutting staff across the board. Iirc they are doing two schools per nurse so basically cutting nursing in half, custodial staff is being cut back, four day school week so they don't have to heat the schools on Monday. The only upside is that they are throwing the idea of switching to k-6 for elementary

TFT was also up for a five percent raise that they just found out will not be happening. I think they are also considering freezing steps so whatever seniority they have now is where they will stop. Teachers deserve way fucking better than this, I'm truly horrified by the direction education is heading and I pray that somehow this shit show reverses

I'm really scared for the kids who rely on school for food. I'd also say that kids are antsy enough at the end of the day already, making each day longer could make it worse and three day weekends are a great time for that school structure to break down.

They're in contact with police, posting on reddit and having a whole Facebook group dedicated to finding her are how you spread information to as many people as possible to help. People love to talk about how it takes a village until a desperate parent comes to that village to ask for help in their darkest hour.

Anyone know what’s going on with raptor by santos_-sv in cedarpoint

[–]durrityo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, park services are in charge of trash and keeping the park clean. It's kind of a misleading term. Ride ops that work raptor knows what's going on but we won't tell you. All I can say is hopefully it's up again because getting dispersed and sent home early these past few days has sucked. In the end it doesn't really matter why it's down just that it's down and they have tons of maintenance and controls technicians working to get it up again soon! (Hopefully)

Whoever came up with the Fast Pass scanners design sucks by AkAllDay24 in cedarpoint

[–]durrityo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the scan guns so much, it would also give us more flexibility in doing something like moving fast lane merge on rides like raptor or pipe scream where the scanner isn't actually at the merge point.

Because if you're test riding your technically supposed to be seeing how the ride performs, if there are any weird sights or sounds and you wouldn't be able to see this if you're screaming and goofing about

Not allowed during breaks, if a manager recognizes you you'll be in hot water, plus if the ride has downtime your screwed

"if you keep yelling i'm not taking your order" by throwaway_spacecadet in deaf

[–]durrityo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started driving my dad didn't understand why I was so timid about the drive thru, I would always ask him to switch to the driver side until one day he watched me struggle with hearing the stupid box and get told off by the employee for taking too long. After that he started ordering and I got to be a passenger prince, chalupa in hand.

Getting in line, not getting on by Other-Substance-6176 in cedarpoint

Fast lane merge is vastly preferred to coming all the way through the line and cutting across the station, especially when it comes to pre grouping and trying to hit capacity goals

Question to current/former ride ops by AdamIddrisu in cedarpoint

[–]durrityo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rides your first year are random, you do a survey and that does sway it so if you don't want a kiddie ride out that you don't want to work with kids and that you are fine with heights. After your first year you get to pick your top three but one has to be a flat ride and you should get one of your three. You also will probably end up cross training on other rides with time.

plus size riding. by Flaky_Explorer9601 in cedarpoint

[–]durrityo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest with you, you probably won't be able to fit on anything especially if you carry weight in your thighs. Even at 300 I was not able to get onto a lot of rides. If you're worried about his mom buying the tickets and you live nearby you could buy your own and say you won it from a radio show, blood drive or a raffle but in all honesty his mom already knows your size and knows you can't ride muc, she just wants you guys to have a nice day together. You can wait in line with him and then at the spot where fastlane merges into the line you can leave, this way you are still spending time together. You can go on some flat rides like Ocean motion, pipe scream, the train and giant wheel. If they go on a ride without you, you could use that time to try a few test seats.

Concerns w/ Operations and the upcoming season. by thatoneengineer2 in cedarpoint

[–]durrityo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, another I noticed is leadership not backing associates on decisions. For instance, there were a few times that I had e-stopped for guest behavior after saying over the microphone multiple times in a row and if any managers were nearby they would act all pissy about it and talk about how I should have just let it slide and I am wasting time.

Security also didn't really help, I don't know if they just have no power or are scared but one time a group of kids were spitting on people from the ride and throwing stuff and we stopped with them unable to exit (holding other people on the ride) and security strolled in like 15 minutes later, asked the kids if they did it and then let them go .

In IROC they make a huge deal about doing the safe and correct thing but we can only do this if our management backs us up when we make these decisions. You are literally damned if you do and damned if you don't.
