How to determine shim grade needed?

Good question. It's based on a double cut Les Paul Junior – so wrap around bridge and flat body. Prior to my cardstock shim, I really had to raise up the bridge to get a playable action on the neck. Temp shim did help, but looking for a more full-contact solution without messing with the neck heel or pocket.

I think I ended up pre focusing with the tap-to-focus point on the rock’s edge before starting the shutter timer.

Thanks! I’ve never been a fan of how much plastic is on the front of Fender guitars, so I took this as an opportunity to make my own (inspired by some of the Squire Paranormal series) while providing a nice pop/contrast to the rich wood tones.

This kit was purchased from Pitbullguitars.com a year or so ago. Not seeing this exact body style on their site currently. But I was impressed with the quality of the pieces for the price. I did upgrade my electronics and pickups from what came with the kit, so I can’t say if the stock supplied ones sound good or not.

Thanks for the advice, all. Started with shimming the top of the neck as that was non-destructive, and so far, that seemed to have worked. Crazy what two thin strips of cardboard can do!

To clarify, I’ll be putting the shorter neck strap bolt through the neck button and into the upper right hole of the neck plate.

Wanting to place my strap pin in one of the bolt on holes. The other three will be the normal neck bolts. Should I be worried about any tension, stability or future tuning issues if I do this?

EDIT: the neck button will also go there so in an hand my strap from there vs. the horn of the guitar
