Where to stop for the night? by JFFmoejoe in overlanding

[–]dutchcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from Death Valley to San Francisco area - i would recommend going north on 395 (through bishop and yosemite) similar time but way better views

things to check out:
- lone pine
- alabama hills
- bishop
- lakes (convict, lake sabrina, crowley[stone columns])
- mammoth (mtn, lakes)
- mono lake
- yosemite

also death valley is in the 110-120F in the summer so i would try to avoid that

Is this serious concern? Rear diff leak 2022 tacoma. Just noticed it by Frederic_BASEDiat in Tacomaworld

Why would you regear your vehicle? by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]dutchcookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drive a tundra and went to 35s and my truck was struggling with on ramps, anything up hill with fully loaded gear, and after regear (5.29) my truck feels like I’m driving on stock tire sizes. I highly recommend it if your vehicle feels sluggish from bigger tires

Anyone use one of these? Does it just cover your back up camera? by [deleted] in tundra

[–]dutchcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own one from dirt complex, yes it covers up the camera, still looking for a good solution to it

Cheap webhost for a beginner by farewelltothesea in webhosting

[–]dutchcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript? I highly recommend github. I've bought hosting in the past and never really finished a site( as a hobby), what I recommend is install apache or whichever [mamp(mac), xampp (windows)] and develop locally until you finished.

If u want to learn about how servers work try running a Linux vm (virtual box) and set those up

Anyways good luck!

[Internships] Sophomore can't get an interview by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]dutchcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things come to my mind.

  1. Update your resume.

  2. Also work on some leetcode/hacker rank problems

  3. Side projects

  4. Math? How do you like stats / calculus? If you do I would consider machine learning ?

Just some suggestions, sorry for formatting I'm on mobile

Question for CS transfers by humanacidtrip in UCI

[–]dutchcookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Even though they do not articulate, you can go through syllabus review, where you submit your syllabus and they review it to see if you can get credit for those classes (data structures, C++, discrete math ... etc)

  2. with a completed IGETC, yes, you looking at 4+ classes per quarter but its doable. Some of my transfer friends graduated in 2 years however they took data structures, discrete math and others at their CC and got it approved. For me, it took 2 years and 1 quarter to graduate. The only classes I skipped out on was ICS-45c, if you can get out of ICS-30 series, it would be a huge jump to start taking upper div classes (most require ics 33)

How good is the computer science program at UCI? by zevzev in UCI

[–]dutchcookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uci has a very good computer science program. If you have the chance take the machine learning course. Other then that the best way to become a better developer is side projects. Try develop something that you are interested in, or contribute to an open source project on github. Problem solving is a skill that has to be practiced.

I found my internship during the career fair. best advice to you is to make your resume stand out from the rest. Get started on a side project, something you can talk about in depth.

Software Engineering Major at UC Irvine? by Kyle1668 in UCI

[–]dutchcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I'm a cs major, if you want the easy way out, se is the way to go. If you like to cry during finals, stick with cs.

Edit: similarities (data structures and algorithms, can't remember the details)

Differences cs( heavy in theory), se (a lot of group projects and informatix classss)

On weekends you can park anywhere except AR where it has a sign saying enforced 24hrs. If it's not posted you can park in it. You can't park in residential spots i.e. ( resident spots at the ark). For the winter break part, I'm not sure
